[Hornby] Nous avons demandé à voir Calle Jarnkrok aujourd’hui pour obtenir ses commentaires sur une vie enchantée de quatre années à Toronto qui touche à sa fin et peut-être sur son retour en Suède. Il a refusé.

Played here for 4 years and the coach wouldn’t even take him out of the lineup towards the end of the season to play younger guys and he doesn’t talk. What a heist of $9 mil. 1 goal in 30 playoff games, sweet!

  2. Silent-Obligation-49

All this guy did was take up a roster spot. Never understood him being in the lineup as he literally did nothing. No offence, no defence, didn’t body check anyone.

  3. Picklepucks

Does nothing. Says nothing. Gets hurt. Hides in the shadow. Dissapears with millions. No further explanation

  4. shanster925

    « Byyyyeee bitches! » – Jarnkrok, probably

  5. HawtPackage

All the users criticizing Jarnkrok’s contract are going to criticize Dubas’ handing out of that contract right?

    Right?

  6. NihilisticFlamingo

LOL. A smooth criminal to the end. Enjoy Sweden buddy, get the fuck outta here.

As an aside, remember when he scored like 3 goals in the first 5 games of the season?

  7. Svalbard38

Järnkrok has had two real contracts, 6×2 and then 4×2.1, that’s the clear contract history of a guy who values stability. He’s not gonna travel around North America on league min deals going up and down to the AHL, he’s gonna go play another couple of seasons in Sweden and then call it a career.

  8. DrinkMoreBrews

The continued argument was that this dude is a Swiss Army knife but boy was he useless in the playoffs.

  9. I think it was Feb/march 2023 a game in Ottawa and he scored this clutch goal for the leafs either tie or win I can’t remember. This was when he was playing with Matthews and Marner.

That’s the most memorial calle moment I have lol

  10. toedragrelease

The fuck is with him being a weirdo around media? Belt pic? Covers his face. Social media team trying to get content? Won’t answer their questions. Media wants to talk? Nope. The fuck does he do here?

  11. mikesully374826

The hate for this guy is hilarious, he wasn’t great offensively near the end, but it isn’t hit fault Berube continued to play him lol

  12. heythisisnick

Thought he had a great first season and then was hurt constantly after that. One of the Leafs of all time, no doubt.

  13. CarriesLogs

Bro just pulled off a heist in real time what a guy

  14. CarriesLogs

Calle Jarnkrok honestly sums up the past 10 years in the form of a player. Good enough defensively and can be used on the PK to stay in the lineup (Us being good enough to get into the playoffs), soft af, don’t want to change it because if we move him we might get a shittier player who is worse defensively or can’t kill PKs so we keep him and keep doing what we’re doing and get the same rules

  15. His first year with the Leafs that contract looked pretty decent. 20 goals playing bottom 6 minutes but after that he was a ghost.

  16. I don’t know why this made me laugh so much, but it did.

  17. thebutlerdunnit

Can’t imagine why he wouldn’t want to answer « Hey Calle, want to talk about how you really suck and got paid millions to do jack shit for 4 years and ended up in the league basement? ». Nope, he’s gonna pack his crap up and head home. The team’s failure isn’t his fault. Him getting paid to be useless isn’t even his fault. He shouldn’t have to answer for it. If someone offered me money for nothing I’d take it.

  18. A player that perfectly encapsulates everything right and wrong with Kyle Dubas’ depth signings. Very serviceable players that can score, but lacks the physicality and energy to fall back on when scoring dries up. He was a legit 20 goal guy in the first two years, shame that injuries and age made him useless by the end.

  19. Never got this sub’s hate for him. Had a 4 year contract, averaged 39 points in 73 games, then 21 points in 52 games for his first two seasons, was hurt for 90% of last season and only got healthy right before the playoffs, then had one bad year. Yet you’d think he was the worst thing that happened to Toronto based on how people talk about him.

Yeah, his time is over, but he provided value during most of his contract as a guy you could put anywhere and still get around .5 points per game, even if it was never really appreciated.

  20. No-Command1173

Dudes entire NHL career post ELC was 2 million per year. He signed in Toronto for a 100k raise from what he signed in Calgary. Dubas signed him because he was exactly what they needed. A character guy who plays up and down the lineup. Averages 15 goals per year and shut down in the playoffs.

His first year in Toronto was a career year statistically and his 2nd year was right on par. He missed most of his third year with a serious injury and he started this year well enough but faded fast.

I cannot fathom how this guy is getting so much hate all of a sudden. He would have hit waivers if Kampf had out played him in pre-season. Didn’t happen. I get that it looks silly to play him over the Marlies in the end but clearly Berube was trying to let the guys career end well or at least give him a shot to earn another contract. That can go a long way for a team to attract other players.

In the end Calle hasn’t cost this team really anything and I would much rather a player have their worst season in the last year of the deal than say David Kampf who we could still be stuck with for 2 more years.

Goodbye! One of the biggest wastes of a roster spot I’ve had the pleasure of seeing for this team (trust me I’ve seen a lot of them)

  22. francis2466

I mean it’s a stupid question. You throw in the backhanded “charmed life” and want him to answer. Toronto media they aren’t hard but they are full of old dumbasses who can’t formulate quality questions.

  23. tortured_fanclub

    Gonna really miss Jarnkrok.

  24. Arguably the most nothing burger hockey player and human being of all time

  25. NotThisTimeULA

Cool thanks Calle! Loved when we signed him, hated his tenure because of how little his impact was here. Had a contract in the SHL agreed upon at the start of this season, so this year was literally collect the cheque and gtfo for him

  26. was a great signing at the time for what he was gonna be tasked to do. too many injuries. the last two years he has been near invisible. was a good dude.

  27. ilovetrouble66

I think he had one of the worst stats for time on ice and GF%… yet he kept getting more ice time

  28. BUROCRAT77

Could have at least told him to kick rocks since none of us could be there

  29. NervousBreakdown

I don’t care what your opinion of the guy is, if these sportswriters are using their final media scrum of the season to take shots at the players they deserve to get ignored. Players don’t owe the media shit so I don’t blame them for declining to talk to these scumbags.

  30. FirefighterGreen2445

If someone asked me about my charmed life somewhere coming to an end I would give them a blank stare and wonder how they got their head that far up their own ass. I look forward to Florida picking him up and getting back into the playoffs with him and everyone here wondering why we didn’t sign him for 1 more year.

  31. Sea-Implement3377

All these players are going to suffer from their collective lack of playoff success.

And I don’t think it’s that the team just got “unlucky”. Or the fans put too much pressure on them to win.

Everyone who played on this team deserves to be hated on by the fans. If you listen to the exit interviews you can hear how much the players hate this team, as well.

  32. AdvancedPangolin618

I really liked him in the first two years of the contract actually. Felt he fit keefes system, but didn’t make an impact in the playoffs.

Also felt he didn’t fit Berubes system well the last two seasons. I felt that way about everyone outside Nylander though
