He gets a lot of flack but he a reliable forward.

Now if only he could get himself open to score!

Watch Nick Paul is going to have a clutch goal this series and everyone is going to eat crow

  3. Don’t forget Jake « Game day! » Guentzel 🤣

  4. Nick has a few good seasons with us, he’s earned some leeway

Nick Paul hasn’t really been on PP1 much and has had injuries that have slowed down his momentum. He is also reliable on defense. I’d give him a break.

Nick Paul gets a lot of grace from the fanbase because he’s been so good in the past. We all like him and he’s been a hugely important player for us at key moments. We also recognize that his down season is due partly to injuries and inconsistent linemates.

Bjork gets too much flak from the fan base in general, but that’s largely because he was an expensive acquisition and he hasn’t lived up to that in terms of production. Especially when you consider how much time he’s had on the top PP unit with Kucherov, his lack of scoring is less forgivable than Paul’s. The question is whether this is an off-season for him or if this is just the player he is now after having surgery for compartment syndrome.

Nick Paul does it all for a reason.

He’s been dealing with injuries this season so his stats aren’t the greatest but hes a perfect Swiss army knife type player that can play anywhere at any time, could probs throw him in net and he’d give us a so so game (😂).

Fair value for his contract for what he brings.

Bjorkstrand is another story. We all originally thought he was brought in for secondary scoring but never really fit in and got relegated to the bottom 6 with PP1 time. No hate on the guy, has his bright times in games but just isnt a fit with us and the odd man out for the lineup. I find his value would be better elsewhere. But i know we all have mixed feelings about him.

Bjork needs to work on his pass reception

I’m aware, this is bait, but I’ll bite anyways.

Paul was injured for a large part of the season, experiencing multiple setbacks. Bjorkstrand was healthy and would have played 82 if he didn’t get scratched for being terrible.

Put Paul on the top powerplay unit and with the same linemates Bjorkstrand has had for large parts of the year and I’m betting my entire life savings he has more goals right now, and probably at least as many points over the same amount of games.

7 goals over ~50 games played is right around 12 over an 82 game pace. He also only had one PPG this entire season with very little PP time.

Bjorkstrand had 12 goals this year, and only 3 of those came at even strength.

Team gave up a first round pick for him and gave him every chance in the world and he sucked the entire way through.

    Apples and terrible, stinky oranges.

Bjorkstrand used to be a 50-60 points player, he is either not a good fit for us or a less than average player due to his injury

Doesn’t Bjork make like twice as much as Nick Paul?

Even with the goal from last night bjorkstrand is the #1 worst player on our team when you factor in how much we pay him. He is paid at the same level as Brandon Hagel, and Anthony Cirelli… Yet we are comparing him to Nick Paul?

He’s paid $6 million this year… Scored ONLY 12 goals and 20 assists, in 80!?! games. While he was on the top line power play for most of the season!

Nick Paul is paid $3 million this year, scored ONLY 7 goals and 8 assists in 50 some games. Put Nick on the power play instead of bjork and I think those numbers flip completely, and bjork scores almost nothing.

The difference in goals to shots in WILD. At even strength Bjork is a measly 1.9%, and Nick is a much better 14%.

And that’s before any defensive numbers…

  13. bankrobba

Convenient to leave off the plus/minus stat. Bjork has -14! Paul has… oh

  14. Skrapnadroj

Not interested in adding to these because it has been taken care of….

I’m looking forward to the lines Coop runs out there. With so many in and out of the lineup it will be nice to see our lines to get more regular. This team and coach are built for the playoffs.

Complaining this team has been knocked out of the first round when they lost two years in a row to the champs is kind of dumb. You could make an argument for the Leafs first round knockout being bad but that was a team coming off three straight cup runs.. look at Florida after 3 straight cup runs.

Hoping Paul runs with Girgs and Gourde. Perry gets some top 6 time every now and then and Bjorky add depth and experience to the younger 4th lines.

I’ve been impressed with Bjork’s stick handling, especially in tight areas near the boards or around the net. I think if Point wasn’t such an elite bumper player on the PP, Bjork could fill that spot

  16. TanyaMKX

Nick paul is so much more than just his production.

Also he can forecheck 1 on 3 and battle with 3 guys long enough to keep the puck in the offensive zone converting to a goal for, and he wont appear on the scoresheet for his effort.

I have witnessed this happen multiple times.

  17. clockbergjr

My problem with Bjork is the amount of puck battles he loses in the offensive zone. So many times our forecheck comes to an end because he loses a puck battle that he should win. This is especially frustrating when it happens on the powerplay
