  1. Chef has served his last meal in the Canucks kitchen

  2. But how do you say “Jim Rutherford” in Swedish???

  3. bwoah07_gp2

If true, happy days. Even though Rutherford should be shown the door too.

  4. ArtVandelAAYY

If true, they fired the guy who makes the least decisions out of the big 3. Team is cooked under this ownership group.

  5. MilesKuma

Am I the only one who thinks he shouldn’t leave right now? His thing is scouting which is what the canucks need to do really well for the next little while

  6. ArcticWolf81

A part of me feels bad for Allvin for taking the fall for all of Rutherford’s shit decisions

  7. nihilism_ftw

    > Why are GM’s so stupid and never tank?

    > GM realizes in the first couple of months the team is cooked

    > Instead of making boneheaded trades to try to save the season / the best player / his job, he does the right thing and tears the team down

    > Have a terrible season

    > Fired

Why do GMs never tank I wonder?

  8. SpeedoAgeru

Yeah. THAT was the problem. Allvin. Not the guy that he was directly taking orders from. And not the man that his boss was taking orders from. Nope, it was Allvin’s fault for all this.

  9. therocksays13

It’s really hard to gauge Allvin because of Rutherford.

  10. muslimannen

Not to shit on Allvin, but I never really understood his role in this organization. I think it told us all a lot when Rutherford said he had been managing the Hughes trade since Patrick had « a lot on his plate ». They mentioned on Canucks Central that it is likely that Patrick stays and helps for the draft even if he is fired, hoping he helps with the scouting!

  11. bonergarage123

Question is, will this make any difference? Everyone knows now Rutherford has been de facto GM for the past 2 years.

Not much will change until he’s gone.

  12. I’m Swedish so I should be biased…

But I’m also happy with it. Hopefully JR retires after the summer as well.

We have talked a lot about « culture problems ». But I honestly think that JR and PA are a big cause of our culture problems. They cultivated such a toxic environment starting with how they fired Bruce. They couldn’t stop yapping to media and constantly threw players under the bus instead of keeping things in-house.

Terrible management regime. Unfortunately the guy at the top top isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon.

  13. phantomgiratina

so did this swedish newspaper straight up just text allvin and ask if he got fired?

  14. jumpingoverclouds

The management structure on this team makes no sense. I hope whoever is GM next seasons makes it clear what their roles are so all of us understand who does what.

  15. The_Couve

Please please please please… rutherford and foote next. PLEASE!

  16. Darth_Vicious

I’m never going to be a fan of the GM that gaslit me into believing that it was a better choice to trade Horvat over Miller. It’s all come apart since that one choice.

  17. shadownet97

If they fumble the draft I might actually stop being a fan.

It’s ONE job, y’all. Even Benning couldn’t possibly fuck it up.

  18. BentleytheGreat

If Allvin is gone (really don’t have any issue with the move), then Rutherford has to go too. Firing just Allvin makes no sense when JR is just as (if not more) responsible for this mess

  19. DarkestThought

He was great until they signed the extension.

  20. MagicBear24

The puppet master Jim Rutherford should be fired as well, clearly he’s been making the decisions. Seemed like Allvin was drafting decently.

  21. BulwarkNuck

Please don’t be a scapegoat. If they don’t get rid of Rutherford and his borderline senile statements akin to Trump’s late night X-posting, then that’s it, I give up on this club.

  22. Putrid-Bath-470

This firing has « scapegoat » written all over it. Everything Allvin said or did, went through Rutherford and Aquilini first.

  23. AlarmedComedian2038

If true, his time was up, the team got lucky the first year in but after that it was horrendous spending big money on the wrong horse who can’t score if his life depended on it. Plus the fact, we got way too many Europeans (Swedes in particular) that are too soft but are good at fly-bys. We need to get bigger, tougher and north american especially CDN players that will finish their checks, play heavier in the corners and in front of the net and giver, throw down with their fists once in a while.

  24. EspressoPesto

People defending Allvin clearly didn’t see his one big red flag. Hughes clearly did not like him, and it seemed like he wasn’t liked by the team in general.

  25. DidIMakeAGoof

I wasn’t a fan of the Allvin and Rutherford regime. They were a clear step up from hockey terrorism that preceded their tenure, but that’s not saying much. Some of the most baffling decisions I can think of are under this regime.

Rutherford saying Hughes wants to play with his brothers, adding unneeded media pressure to an already hot subject for fans, and players alike.

They traded Hughes for a great return; but, then publicly stating they never re-negotiated the trade and accepted the first offer from Guerin.

I don’t think Guerin rejects one of the best dmen in the world over an extra mid round pick, or even an extra piece. I just wish they got some mid round picks or prospects considering they wasted so many for absolutely no reason.

Trading Pods to sign, and then cut Daniel Sprong.

    The Desharnais, and Heinen signings.

Signing Mikheyev instead of offering Horvat more money. Playing Mikheyev while injured, tanking his value, and then trading him with a second because his value was negative.

Giving Petey an ultimatum to re-sign or get traded to Carolina while his underlying skating stats were falling off, and it was stated that he was dealing with knee tendonitis. They had a year of control left.

Re-signing Garland, Boeser, Lankinen, and Demko to extensions when they « knew » Hughes was gone.

Being cheap with Willander over his elc.

Trading the first that could have landed us Victor Eklund for MPetey, when they « knew » Hughes was leaving.

Not to mention Allvin and Rutherford basically throwing their players/coaches (Boudreau) under the bus at every opportunity.

  26. newtothis1108

Hmm could be possible theres friction behind the scenes too maybe he is taking the fall for a lot of the bad decision making. There were his unecessary comments regarding Boeser after the trade deadline last year, and then Hughes did not even thank/mention Alvin in his IG post but did mention Rutherford and Aquilini. IIRC even in an interview post-trade he mentioned Rutherford only.
