  1. It's all too easy to imagine the finest hockey GM available telling Pelley in an employment interview, “I need to have full decision-making autonomy in rebuilding this team;” and Pelley, instead of saying, “You've got it: that's what I want,” saying something like, “Well, you have to report to someone, and I'll need to okay any important moves;” and the luminary GM pushing back his chair, standing up and saying, “Wrong answer! I'll reapply for this job, maybe, when someone else is doing yours. Others warned me that the problems in this organization start at the top, and you've made it evident I'm looking at its biggest problem right now.”

  2. 8:59 I honestly have to agree with Steve on this.

Not gonna defend Keith Pelley in any way for his incompetence, but you have to be an especially bad piece of shit to be the next Harold Ballard

  3. Feels like there is a lot of revisionist history on the Carlo and Laughton trades. I seem to remember last year everyone loved those trades.

  4. Steve, thank you for your work on LFRs and the SDP this season. I'm not a Leafs fan by any stretch – I watch little NHL hockey before the Playoffs (though I watch much PWHL puck) and, when I can be bothered, I'm either watching the Flames (because I grew up with their farm team) or want to hear certain broadcasters (because I am a sports media geek). But I am a fan of the New York Jets, a team cursed by the football gods and run by one of the stupidest people to own a major sports franchise. Through this season, I've felt a connection with the channel. You are the epitome of the long-suffering fan, which many of us are of some team in some league. You articulate the lows of frustration and despair along the highs of triumph and hope better than most of us ever could. I hope the Leafs give you more of the former for LFR Season 20 and I hope both you and Joe Bowen are around when the Leafs win again. If the Cubs could win the World Series, Hibernian FC win the Scottish Cup, Western Bulldogs win the AFL Premiership, and teams from the city of Cleveland win anything, than the Leafs will someday stop their city and our country with the parade to end all parades.

  5. Thanks for another great season of content Steve! Obviously this year stunk on the ice but your videos made it a bit more bearable 🙂

  6. Have a great off season and thank you, from Habs nation, for making it super special for us! Looking forward to the first episode of next season!
    Take care Steve, #HabsForever 🔥

  7. It’s over alright. Lol. You Leafs fans got exactly what you deserved. 😂😂😂 No fan base deserves a Cup less than you. Who will you blame this year? The front office? Auston? John? We’re dying to know who’s getting garbage on their lawn this summer. See you losers in October. 😂

  8. my guy, i don't know if you have a script or not, but you are very well-spoken. you make me feel things beyond just the shitshow that is this team.

  9. I’m confused how everyone holds Brad accountable for a bad Laughton trade when everyone including Steve called it a good trade at the time. The job of the GM is to have the best team on paper. The coach needs them to perform. People like the Laughton trade last trade deadline and like the leafs coming into the year. I put way more blame on the coach then the GM

  10. 14:52 interesting factoid…. Sacha Barkov is the ONLY NHL player to ever win a Stanley Cup in the same season they have an AAV above 10 million. Every other player won a cup being paid lower than 10 million in the same season.

  11. Is being a Leafs fan just permanent misery, suffering and anxiety ? Somehow I find myself growing a strange addiction to misery, suffering and anxiety, will it last forever?

  12. Steve I started out as a Sicko but over the years I've really enjoyed watching you, I find myself watching many SDPN podcasts and many many more of your LFRs (I only used to watch the embrassing losses). It does help that your team just losses more now anyways. As a Canucks fan I will always hate your team but really enjoy you. Take Care bud, enjoy the rest of your year until we meet again on the very first leafs loss next year.

  13. Look at it this way Dangle. At least you can say the Leafs legitimately had no chance of going into the 2nd round with this troop. What is 69 years without a Cup?

  14. Way to go Steve. I'm 66 yrs old. I've been a Leafs fan since '68. Yes! Norm Ullman was my favorite Leaf growing up. With the exception of Doug Gilmour era it's been a LONG pathetic slog!!!
