From 32nd in GA in the NHL on the day they traded for wedgewood to the Jennings trophy a year later. CMac deserves a statue for these two trades alone

Can anybody explain to me why nobody even has Wedgewood in the top 5 or 10 for the Vezina this year? Sure, we’re a great team, but his GAA and SV% are top of the league by a *fucking mile*, and he has a grand total of 6 regulation losses! A few of which occurred when he came in as relief for Blackwood and let one goal in which ended up being the game winner. It’s not like he’s been ok and the team has bailed him out, he’s won games for us when the offense wasn’t firing, and even on a great team his stats are just stellar.
I understand he doesn’t have the name of other goaltenders, but if you’re going on this season’s form and results, he’s as good as it gets. I’m not saying he should be guaranteed to win it, but he should be in the damn conversation. Sorokin is being touted as a « favourite » when he’s 16th in SV% and 18th in GAA, and played terribly for the last month. Wedgewood has been the epitome of consistency the entire season.
I just can’t understand how he somehow hasn’t even been mentioned.

Shout out to Trent Miner here too, who definitely would have gotten a part of this Jennings back when it was still the Vezina before the late 70s Habs broke it
