  1. Also, as a Bolts fan, it's not even a question that Montreal has the best single defenseman in this series, whether Hedman plays or not. The thing is that that doesn't really determine who's going to win the series. I don't think the Panthers ever had the single best defenseman in any of their series (maybe against the Leafs), but they had such a solid and diverse core that there were absolutely no breaks. I think the real lesson to learn from the Panthers cups was that you can actually do it by committee on the back end, especially if you have strong enough defensive forwards, and I think that's what Tampa's done this year

  2. I'm a die hard MTL fan, yet unfortunately I think Tampa wins this in 7. If kucherov and vasy decides to win a serie they will. Their experience, throughout the entire lineup and behind the bench is just too massive to ignore.

  3. The Habs are perfectly capable of winning this series (so this is ZERO disrespect to them), but if the Lightning lose this series, it will be a catastrophe for them.

Pretty much every underlying and raw number says they're better (expected goals and raw goals), but they're also older and more experienced.

The Holmberg injury stinks, and it sucks not having Hedman, but neither player should prevent them from winning a first round serious (Hedman in 2026 has been a 3rd pair D, even when they were winning a crap ton of games)

They don't have many runs left and they've gotten bounced in the 1st round three years in a row. If they lose this series, they need to do some serious soul searching and make serious changes.

Again, Montreal is perfectly capable of winning the series, but there's no questioning the pressure's on Tampa.

  4. While I think Tampa would probably beat almost every team not named Colorado Avalanche, I think Montreal is a bad matchup for them. I think Montreal will be too fast and not intimidated by any physical play. Suzuki will show how insanely clutch he is and be best player of the series, and Dobes will out goalie Vasy. (or Tampa in 4 and I'm out of my mind, literally could go either way.)

  5. Tampa has been MTL boogeyman for many years even before that awful 2021 series. Last two games Habs played against Lightning this season had real playoff vibes and Habs won both of them marginally

I think this will be an extremely tough series, if MTL can manage to get through, I think they can handle any of their opponents in subsequent rounds all the way to the cup

  6. TAMPA IN 5

and as soon as it happens, we will hear non-stop complaints about the playoff format. funny how when the leafs lose, they're chokers but when the habs lose after a 100+ point season, people will blame the format

  7. I thought in the last MTL Tampa game, with all the scrummy stuff, Montreal kinda kicked their ass. Problem is idk if Habs can do that from 4-7, but we know Tampa can

  8. Dobson is a huge loss but you know he's a trooper and will come back as soon as it's remotely possible. So maybe by game 4 or 5? But the real wildcard is whether putting Texier on the opposite wing to Demidov is going to do the work that St Louis thinks it will. The idea is that he can keep plays alive in the O Zone much better than Kapanen, which should unleash Demi to take a big step compared to his already very solid rookie season. And Newhook at C on that line is not your ideal 2C, but he's fast and skilled and experienced (including playoff experience) so it should be fine. I don't think Dach will see more than 1-2 games before he plays himself out of the roster, which should help get Bolduc into the lineup. Ithas been a down season for him, but his profile is good for the playoffs.

  9. One notable injury for the habs down the stretch was Newhook, how came back on the second line.

You gotta look at their last two meetings of the season. Rough playoff style. Habs took both.

  10. Funny Adam always puts MTL in the 6 seed of the division and they end up being 6th over all in the NHL lol keep up the guessing ADAM

  11. Everybody is good against the Leafs in the playoffs defensively.
I take the Habs. Little deeper and younger,
    Vaselevski is my fear.
    Is Hedman healthy?

  12. Adam, the Montreal / Washington series was the best first round series last year. It only lasted 5 games, that felt like 8. The intensity. Wilson and Anderson. The goalie injuries to both teams. Ovi scoring the only OT winner of his career. The Bell Centre crowd. You didn't watch it, obviously.

  13. Did bobody see how Montreal manhandled Tampa this season? Anderson is going to be a big problem. $100 say we see Perry turtle and Perry is one of my boys
