@Ligue nationale de hockey

En remportant la catégorie avec 34 % des voix, Houston a été élue prochain endroit où les joueurs voudraient aller si la LNH devait se développer.

Large Canadian ex-pat contingent there from the oil and gas sector

32 teams are perfect. If we must expand, let’s put one up north. Quebec City or Toronto #2. I know the NHL wants to markets to make more money so Houston/Austin/Kansas City would be preferred.

  3. Frequent_Wafer5798

They’d need to add another team to keep the conferences even. So maybe Quebec too?

  4. Machomandalf90

No income tax for games played there is probably a nice bonus for them.

Just goes to show: different strokes. You couldn’t pay me an nhl salary to live in the American south. Fucking hell.

Real question, why does Milwaukee not have an NHL team? It’s the only Big 4 sport without a team in Wisconsin and should be a big hockey market… feels like that would make some sense

  7. Ew. Outside of Quebec, all of these options are terrible. Georgia? Really? As a Flames fan I can say that being the host corpse in an Aliens film is not in the interest of your tax base. GTFOH

Rich people live in a different world than the rest of us

Markam because it be hilarious to see them win a Cup

Interesting that they chose “Scottsdale” over “Phoenix”. Is that a little PTSD? Or, are they just trying to play where they live? Or, are they saying that the only way for hockey to succeed in Arizona is if it’s in Scottsdale?

8 teams x 4 divisions / 2 conferences is perfect. Half make the playoffs. No need to mess with it. Just relocate Columbus and they’ll be fine

  12. chunk-a-lunk

I will never forgive Life for the fact that there is no NHL team in Milwaukee.

  13. BeefJerky03

32 teams is the perfect amount unless we want to go up to 64, then 128, 256….

  14. Travel_Adventurous

Just add Houston and Arizona to west and Atlanta and Quebec City to east, it’s all inevitable and then take like a 15 year break from expansion at least

  15. Why do they want to keep trying Atlanta? It continually fails.

  16. Austin cannot support an NHL team. Insane that it is even considered.

  17. MaximumOverfart

Good to see strong player support for Quebec. Quebec biggest problem is that a team there does not grow the game, at least in the eyes of the NHL.

  18. pixel_pete

I will say the Houston Aeros were a cool AHL team, it would be fun if they got revived in the NHL.

🤣 « nhlpaplayerpoll » nice try Huston business moguls. As if a poll would ever dictate where people set up next to make money. « Its anonymous » im sure it wasn’t heavily influenced at all. They’re just setting you up to feel normal about it.

Who puts Houston ahead of this ranking.?!?? Silly silly voters

I stated it in another reply here, but I’ve lived in Houston for the last 25 years and don’t see it ever working. People are mostly clueless about hockey down here. Many think it’s a WWE style event that’s staged lol. There are like 3 good sheets of ice here and one of those is closing down soon. Dallas is obviously light years ahead these days, and I think it would be damn near impossible for Houston to catch up to it. Most people I’ve talked to over the years seem to be just fine with baseball/football/soccer here. It sucks.

  22. Toronto, or Souther Ontario are by far the biggest markets for hockey. How there isn’t at least 2 Canadian teams south of Ottawa is insanity. There is 8 London teams in the Premier League

  23. Dirt-Southern

I’d rather it anywhere but Houston, but thats just me not enjoying living here. I’d still root for Dallas/San jose/Philly. if it happened over a Houston team. Austin I’d root for but they already have an AHL team (technically Cedar Park) that is beloved.

  24. Ministerofgoons

Legit question here and not trying to flame Houstonians. What the hell is in Houston that would lead players to almost overwhelmingly vote for Houston as their preferred choice? Is it really something as boring as zero income tax?

  25. depressivehacks

I mean, it’s a player poll, so I can see why they’d rather visit an additional warm climate a couple of times a year than go to yet another frozen tundra.
