  1. “Finding ways to make the playoffs” is not how you beat the canes in the first round. series goes 4-2 Maybe 4-1

  2. 11:46 I disagree with Jesse on the Pinto line not being able to handle Carolina's top line. That line has been shutting down the Mackinnon's, McDavid's, and Eichel's of the league all year and still finding a way to produce offence with a 61.9% xGF. Carolina will be a lot to handle but I think they'll be up to the task. It could come down to home ice advantage.

  3. No idea who’s winning this series, but I’m pretty confident that whoever does will absolutely destroy the battle of Pennsylvania winner in the 2nd round

  4. Goaltending. Vet wins the net, and Bussi's huge extention? 1.9M a year or something. Canes fans are worried about the Goaltending for this playoff run for sure.

  5. Over the last 3 months the Sens have the 2nd best record in the NHL despite having a top 5 hardest strength of schedule. They have the least amount of goals against and better underlying numbers than the Canes.

  6. Bussi wasn't a huge extension by any means. Both goalies were played very well in their final two starts of the season. Bussi had a very rough stretch after the olympics. It seems Freddie is getting the game one start as of right now based on their final two practices. Canes fans are worried about goaltending. Would not be surprised if a returning Kochetkov gets in the net at some point either in the playoffs.

  7. One of the things that’s irritating is that every year every pundit repeats the line “the Canes have the same problem every year” then change what the problem is. Originally it was goal scoring – then they score goals so it became goaltending. Then they get better goaltending. Now it’s size. I think they’re fair criticisms and I come watch your breakdowns to hear your thoughts because I think you have good insight but to move the goalpost and act like it’s always been the same problem is a bit silly

  8. Pinto/Amadio have played more against top liners than any forwards in the league. While putting up good metrics.

  9. Unwatchable/unlistenable because of the constant ticking beeping and static noise in the background, hope they’re not all like this guys!

  10. those takes are victims of being Canadian, Canes in 5. not being dumb i promise, Steve agreed, and then ignored what he said lol.

  11. Season Series Canes 2 to Sens 1, with goals Canes 11 to Sens 10. However, Canes 2 wins came against Reimer, and Sens 1 win came against Freddie. I think for the Senators to win Ullmark has to be great, because if he's just good or average, Canes win.

  12. Dangle is a bonified Sens hater. Ontario team and it's not his boot licking, brown nosed Laffs in this year. Clown personified.

  13. Jesse could not be more wrong imo, the Shane Pinto line is exactly who Ottawa wants matching up vs the Aho line. No line has spent more time this year facing elite competition than Pinto-Amadio (the LW has been a mix of Greig and Giroux, but Primarily Nick Cousins) and the results speak for themselves. They're not only capable of handling those hard assignments, they're able to be absolutely suffocating for opposing top lines.

To me, apart from goaltending (every playoff series comes down to goaltending to an extent), this series will be decided on which coach is able to get the better of the line matching game. Both teams will look to get their matchup lines out vs top lines (Pinto/Aho and Staal/Stützle). The reason OTT might have an edge in this series is that if this series sees a lot of 2nd line vs 2nd line, the Hall-Stankoven-Blake like is going to be completely physically outmatched by Tkachuk-Cozens-Greig

  14. So just to keep track here, Jesse thinks that Buffalo is "the most consistent team in the NHL" and that the Sens have the defensive advantage on the Canes because "their team defense is better."

    Okay then.

It's like they're forgetting that this is the first in the East vs. WC2 matchup. The Sens have been decent lately, but the Canes have been good all year.

But we all know how everyone's predictions regarding the Canes did last year, when "Canes in six over the Caps" was treated as a spicy take (they won in five). It's like these guys don't learn from the past, and only think about the Canes the couple times per year they do one of these videos.

Knowing about NHL teams is LITERALLY YOUR JOB. Go learn about teams other than the original six, please.

  15. The Senators are looking like an indomitable force after overcoming a season of adversity, from losing all of their defensemen to injuries, dropping games before the olympics, Ullmark taking a leave of absence, handling the evil of Tkachuk, needing to battle for the playoffs, dealing with rumours about the team, they've overcome a lot. They've risen above the rest and have the mentality and talent of a champion. Look out other teams, the Senators are a powerhouse of the cell.

  16. I think people are massively underestimating how insanely good Carolina is this year.
And you are right, their only weakness is the same thing it has always been. but it's not size or grit. it's reffing.

  17. I just don’t trust the sens. The only playoff team that made the leafs look competent. There wasn’t a single moment last Year against the sens I thought the leafs were losing that series. It was the only one I could say that in 9 years.
