Extrait de son podcast 32 Pensées. Friedman pense que cela a conduit à un drame dans le vestiaire qui a déchiré l’équipe.

  1. This wouldn’t shock me if true let’s be real

  2. SubElitePerformance

Probably the guys that would need to be shipped out in order to pull it off

  3. cabutler03

If true, I wonder who the biggest voices were?

  4. ElephantRedCar91

makes sense, the addition of Quinn would have meant someone or someones would have had to go.

« I’m not sure everybody in there shared in the excitement, I’m not sure it was unanimous. »

I’m not sure of a lot of fucking things. Doesn’t mean I wake up one day and say « Hey, this is a controversial thing for me to spout off about that would get clicks, I think I’m going to just blurt it out ». And then in your title, we leap from not sure everybody, to several people opposed.

On that note, I’d venture that most players going to a team aren’t met with unanimously shared excitement, and some are apprehensive about being traded. Maybe I should infer that there was something more to every situation in every locker room to get some clicks.

I get that some people consider him a reputable and reliable source. But if you can’t even tell me you’ve heard it from sources, and that you’re just not sure, then I do not give a shit. What a bunch of BS. Don’t spread shit like this, please.

  6. This kind of a dumb perspective, surprising for Friedman to be honest. The NHL is a business and players understand that

This isn’t even like a hypothetical. This is what happened. You put half the team on a trade bubble, of course they’re going to cause drama, intentionally or not. Fitzgerald did no favors to anyone by letting that fire grow. Imagine working a job that you enjoy in a place you like and your boss keeps hovering the idea of moving you elsewhere over your head.

  8. Was it really fear of having Quinn himself joining this team, or rather the heavy price that would have been paid in the locker room to make it happen? 3 roster players would have been gone at minimum, and I’m sure at least someone who remained would have resented that.

But it also really shouldn’t have mattered. The team was in trouble outside of this drama and outside of Jack hurting his hand.

And even after that Fitz did fuck all to help fix it, I was almost sure he would have swung a trade or some sort before the Olympic break, instead he just sat and watched the team itself break.

I was right when I figured the team’s issue was because of the natural contempt for ongoing preferential treatment of the Hughes brothers.

I’m here for the truth coming out.

  10. The important thing for me now is: adding Quinn as a free agent will have the same situation or it was just because of the trade talks? I mean, is it a personal thing?

  11. Thrillho7086

Translation, Nemec and Dougie. Who on this roster has any sort of sway? Jack and Luke obviously wouldn’t be upset, I can’t see Nico having any problem. Timo? Bratt? Why would they care?

Maybe this did cause some locker room tension because that’s just kind of human nature when it comes to trades and let’s face it, it does seem like last name Hughes’ gets preferential treatment. But him using phrases like “I’m not sure if” and “I think” sounds like speculation. Whatever the situation is (if there is one) hopefully resolved itself somewhat as time passed and will be nonexistent by training camp. Another blunder by Fitz though to let it get to that point.

Anyone who opposed acquiring a top 2 dman in the league is nuts

  14. grizzwintergreenlc

Feels overblown. No shit guys being named in trade rumors weren’t happy

  15. MountainBaker8217

first, he repeatedly uses the terms « I think » which tells me that this could very well just be him riffing.

second, its not only the players he mentions, he’s talking about the organization as a whole not being unanimous/excited about getting QHughes here

  16. This is silly. Of course 100% of the team wasn’t on board – I’m sure Dougie didn’t really care for the idea of uprooting his family to move to another team for this. Players have real lives and it isn’t his fault Fitz stupidly wrecked our cap and handed out so many NTCs so he couldn’t unfuck it easily.

Not to mention we know some players are closer to others. I’m sure on one hand they would be happy for Jack, on the other they would miss a favorite teammate being shipped out. It just isn’t black and white.

  17. Substantial-Leave898

Literally who cares what this guy has to say. He’s been just spewing for a while now

  18. DontDraftSmall

You can’t let the lunatics run the asylum, shows weakness on Fitzs’ part. We need clarity and decisiveness from Mehta as to building a championship team. I ann sure that will mean shipping out some of our big name players.

  19. Substantial-Leave898

« Tore the team apart » they were good both times Jack was healthy and bad when he was hurt. All the other narratives about them are nonsense

  20. Tacitus_99

Friedman is the Insider GOAT, so unfortunately this is true. Sunny has some tough choices to make.

  21. Afghan_Whig

Something happened around that time. Doesn’t make sense that Jack gets injured for a few weeks and then all of the sudden Nico, Timo, Bratt, Dougie, etc all of the sudden can’t score at all. All of the offense the team has and all of the sudden they are lucky to score one goal, if any at all? Bad blood about the Quinn trade makes a lot more sense than simply Jack being hurt.

Glad Fitz is gone, but I’m convinced Keefe lost the locker room as well so I hope he is gone soon too.

  22. Could also just be Fitz tryna save face for not getting him..

  23. Mr7three2

Well no shit. Its already the Jack show. Now we have the make a wish little brother who has one of the biggest contracts on the team despite being an AHL caliber Dman. You think the boys want another fuckin Hughes brother around. ?
