@Canucks de Vancouver

[Batchelor] Jim Rutherford : Certaines personnes pensent que Quinn est parti d’ici parce que l’équipe n’était pas bonne. Il partait de toute façon, et le meilleur exemple que je puisse vous donner est celui de Matthew Tkachuk. #Canucks @Sportsnet650

This is honestly a pretty good presser by JR. Would recommend people listen to it in full if they have the time.

  2. So far, it’s looking like the players we’ve received from the Wild are going to be useful players on ice, *and* we still have a first round pick from them. Let’s hope Dallas takes them out of the first round

  3. TalkinTrash1118

So…. why all the contracts and trading a 1st for MPetey?

    Absolute horseshit from JR.

  4. Rutherford, this is the best shit that has ever came out of your damn mouth.

  5. maketherightmove

So then why did you decide to sign the contracts that you did last offseason and why did you trade the 1st from the Miller trade, Jim?

  6. Dramatic-Guard1820

It’s why I never bought his jersey. Horrible attitude the entire time he was here and I could tell he didn’t want to be here. Purely played hard for his own future benefit not because he cared about the city and fanbase.

  7. This just seems like total spin from Rutherford. If he was always going to leave, why did you make all those fucking moves you made?

  8. I can see how JR convinced aqua to rebuild. He’s a master at spin and controlling the narrative.

  9. Hewpdreams

jim seems to be well prepped for this and is nailing all of the canucks twitter talking points for the year

the least inflammatory press conference he’s given us imo

Should be cautious drafting American players in the future

  11. MGM-Wonder

Fire the idiot into the fucking sun. If that was the case then that calls into question half the trades and decisions they made.

They would have ONLY made sense IF there was an expectation that Hughes might re-sign. If there was no chance then Rutherford made some really fucking shortsighted and stupid decisions for this club.

  12. Ask_DontTell

Canadian teams need to stop drafting Americans and making them Captains. credit to the Montreal Canadiens – they picked elite Americans in Hutson and Caufield who are obviously leaders on the team but the C, As and backup As are all Canadians.

  13. lulover88

Amen. Finally someone it afraid to say the truth

  14. Apprehensive-Tea4881

“I’d like to add two people” cue any twins rumours 😅

  15. No_Mud1738

So they knew he was leaving and still hired Foote??

  16. Emergency_Wolf_5764

Rutherford was effectively the GM the entire time, and Allvin was mostly there to take his calls, return messages, do the travel for scouting, and get him his morning coffee.

The Vancouver Canucks are not a serious NHL franchise, nor are they owned, managed, or operated by serious people.

    Next.

  17. NooneKnowsIAmBatman

As a Seahawks fan too, I’m hoping this turns out similarly to how the Russell Wilson trade went down

  18. I figured this was the case. JR saying it was because of his brothers was a way of him deflecting the fact that Quinn didn’t want to play in Canada/west coast. That wasn’t ever going to change

  19. coldbrew40

can we stop defending quinn hughes in any form now thanks. go watch his friedman interview from september, basically says he’s already made his mind up and is gone. was happy to fuck his friends around and let them all extend long-term though

  20. Sensitive-Cloud-9838

MAGA cuck Hughes didn’t want to play in Canada . Gotta stop signing big name muricans

  21. « I knew he was leaving, so I paid a 1st for Pettersson, and still extended Demko, Garland, and Boeser, and traded for Evander Kane. I fired the GM for the mistakes I made »

  22. mudermarshmallows

    I can believe this.

But then it makes everything he did to try and make him stay even stupider.

  23. HardcoreZombieExpert

Rutherford is very good at manipulating the truth to make it seem like he’s the genius that saw everything coming before anyone.

  24. BigBirdsBrain

Feels like he made up his mind early and the return at least gave us direction. Still stings losing a guy like that though.

  25. WorriedMeeting7048

People complain about drafting Swedes but perhaps its the Americans to worry about. The Hughes-Tkauchuk era of Americans seem pretty entitled.

  26. DustlandFairytale_

Then why make him captain if you knew his heart wasn’t truly in it and dedicated to the team in the long run? So dumb.

  27. Ministerofgoons

I’m starting to feel disillusioned with JR, I thought he was a straight shooter but this spin he’s trying to put on Hughes leaving creates more questions than it answers. He’s speaking out of both sides of his mouth just like Allvin did and I’m worried if JR isn’t turfed as well then this org is going to continue to be delusional as to what the facts are.

Yes before anyone says it ownership is *the* problem. But unfortunately we can’t fire our owners.

  28. How the hell hasn’t this idiot been fired? He’s the number one problem in management.

Aquilini needs to go. The fans need to genuinely commit to a boycott.

I really want McKenna in Vancouver (and I’m gonna be so upset if he ends up elsewhere), but getting him will only keep fans coming to games, keeping Aquilini’s profits rolling in.

  29. swepttheleg

This fundamentally needs to lower the value of American players for Canadian teams
