As an Avs fan since 94, don't count out the kings
First half avs were almost unbeatable with 2 regulation losses, after the break 14. Something other than an injury caused that. Kings are getting better going into playoffs with new coach and 3 new players. Game on the 11th against soilers was hardest hitting game by Kings in years… KINGS IN 6.

Kings in 4, and not only that, but in the most lopsided playoff series in NHL. history. LA outscores the Avalanche by a combined 33-1 in the series. In fact, Avalance have a combined 7 shots for the entire series.
The disrespect Oilers get for major awards is astonishing. Bouchard for Norris.
The synopsis of this series preview should start and end with this: While the Kings pride themselves on keeping games low-scoring and being slightly above league average in 5-on-5., the Avs are the league's best team in 5-on-5 by a mile, and have scored no fewer than four goals in each of their three games against the Kings this season. Only thing that gives me the slightest moment of pause is yet again the Avs are heavily favored in the first round vs a former goaltender. Kuemper was Colorado's netminder when they won the cup a few years again and was jettisoned after. Think the Avs are going to see the absolute best from Kuemper when it counts. Kinda like Gru a few years back.

Avs in 4 kings are cheeks
You mentioned the team who works the hardest has a good chance of winning. I know the Kings are nowhere near as good as Colorado but work ethic is what DJ has been preaching since coming in saying that the team must outwork the other team every game and now that its the playoffs the guys will be playing even harder. Since the coaching change, the Kings have went from bottom in the league in blocks, hits, and puck battles won to top 3 in each. I highly doubt the Kings can pull it off but they have the ability to make it a good series and anything can happen in hockey so maybe they can pull off the impossible. Go Kings Go!
Ducks fan here….this Kings team is very reminiscent of the 2012 kings (minus a generational goalie) but also the Avs team is stacked and there's no question there's history of teams like the Avs completely folding…
The Avs PP stumbled going into the playoffs because they sat or had players out for injuries. No Cale or Naz for a stretch.

Kings fan since 1968-69. Yes, I’d like to see the Kings complete a monumental upset. However, if I were betting cash, I’d have to go with Colorado. The Kings are a solid NHL team; Avalanche? An elite NHL team. L.A. can’t match Makar or MacKinnon. Colorado’s goaltending is better. Will 2012 repeat? Anything can happen. I want to see L.A. go beyond five games. Will the President’s Cup curse befall Colorado?

Reason: I think the Kings and Kopitar will try to go out with a bang where they will get better and better the further the series goes on and Kuemper will steal some games given he knows all of the tendencies of the Avs players, but the Avs will just be too much in the end to overcome.

Nothing's ever a for sure in NHL playoffs. But I'd be as shocked as anyone if the Avs lost the series. I think they finish LA off in 5.
