Im so happy how far this kid has come since the beginning of the season. To be a professional athlete in Philly you have to be able to respond to adversity or we will chew you up and spit you out fast. I think MM is going to be a difference maker in this series and i cant wait to see it.
I post this any I place I can. Last year his +/- was (-18) w/63 pts. This year he is EVEN w/51 pts. Better defensive play, possibly. But being on the 3rd line, where he belongs, w/Cates & Barkey/Bump is a big reason. They're all 200-foot players.
He absolutely deserves this. I'm so excited to see this kid play in the playoffs. Him, Martone, Tippett, everyone has been putting their foot on the gas.
There is this tension from these guys. It's as if any moment, they are going to break out bigtime. They are playing with House Money and that makes them extremely dangerous in the playoffs. I've been fan since 1973 and the Flyers don't owe me a damned thing. There is something about this group that feels like the 1980's but with more skill. Michkov is still learning English so there should not be any pressure on the kid. If Danny can get this team a little bit bigger at the Center position and get Jiricek and McDonald to stay up then this team will be very tough.
I'd really like a goal for #39 by the end of next season to be taking interviews in English this isn't a biased thing I just think it would be easier once he is communicating in the same dialogue with his teammates that he's going to be able to excel to a whole nother level because he's not thinking about what they're saying and focusing on the details

The puck came to me and I tried to quickly read the situation — where my teammates were and how the defenders were positioned. I made a decision based on that, took the shot, and it went in.
But really, the whole team created that moment — I just finished it.

I’m still adapting, but everything is going well. The coaches and teammates are helping me, so it’s becoming easier.

The pace of the game and making decisions faster. You have less time with the puck, so you have to think quicker and react right away.

I'm so glad Michkov is finally buying in defensively. It's only going increase his TOI and lead to more time in the offensive zone.
