Agree with Marek. Rutherford should’ve been first to go. Allvin knew Boeser wasn’t that good and that’s why they didn’t originally want to extend him. Rutherford panic signed him to 7x$7.25M. Allvin has a much better eye for talent. Rutherford decided to pay two flawed goalies over $13 million and laundry list of other bad trades and deals. I would’ve been ok keeping Allvin and promoting RJ or signing Bergevin as POHO
You think RJ would’ve dumped Silovs for a 4th after watching him carry Abby to a Calder cup? No chance. Rutherford should’ve been gone if we were just calling balls and strikes

Allvin was the easy sacrificial lamb because he's Swedish. I don't entirely blame Rutherford either. I blame the owner. When the policies don't change from one management group to another, it's clear what's going on. Trevor Linden would still be the President if the Canucks had done a rebuild back then. But Benning and the owner didn't want one, so that was it. Fans have to be realistic. No matter who the President and GM are, they're the hockey experts, not the owner. It's up to them to do that job autonomously. The owner's role is simple – stay out of hockey operations and evaluate based on results. And I don't believe for second that, until very recently, Aquilini has stayed out. If you're an owner, you're not a hockey person. Your job is to hire people who are hockey people and evaluate based on results. The problem as fans is that we can't realistically evaluate Rutherford because we don't know how many of these decisions were ones he made independently or if ownership gave him a mandate to follow and he had to work within that. And sadly, as much as fans don't want to hear it, that team that made it to the second round was never going to duplicate that success. That was lightning in a bottle and there was no way they were going to be able to keep those players. But I guarantee the owner when the team went on a role early in the seasons instructed Rutherford to add pieces whatever the cost because they wanted that home playoff ticket revenue. But too many fans don't know how this stuff works.
Media has all the answers and does none of the realistic research. I wish we could fire the media as well as Rutherford.

Not a VAN fan by any stretch of the imagination however Linden was right when he wanted to rebuild way back when. He was fired and look at the mess now. Fire Rutherford and bring Linden back to salvage any chance at a relatively quick bounce back if it's possible and he'd accept the position.
