Who takes this series… and in how many games? Can the Habs actually pull this off or is Tampa too deep and experienced?
Drop your prediction below ⬇ and we’ll feature the best takes on the next show.
Carrier in the lineup is laughable, defensive and PK metrics improved without him. He was an addition by subtraction. Watch the PK plummet with that goof in the lineup.
Let me expand when Carrier is on the PK on the right side, whenever someone is down low, he faces the player, leading with his stick, its always been easy for a cross ice feed. If a left handed player was/is there, the guy could shield against walking into the slot because the body is in-between player and goal, all the while left handed stick guarding against the slot pass.
I don't see this series going under 6 games. And although my heart says habs in 7, my head says tampa in 6. It really could go either way though.
I think the Dobson injury is really damaging. I know tampa misses Hedman, but they have learned to adapt all season long. The habs aren't as prepared to go on without their top RHD
Here's hoping I'm wrong!
Just read the series preview over at the Athletic. Sounds like our boys should not even head down to Tampa. I like us in 7.
I BELIEVE….GO HABS GO!!!!
too bad the HABS didnt get consistent goaltending at the start of the season, i think the standings would look a bit different and this series would definitely have a different look. go HABS go!!
Here are my 4 takeaways to secure this series:
1. We need our stars to be stars.
2. We will need some scoring support from our middle 6 guys, especially our 2nd line. Tampa Bay has arguably the best 2nd line in the league and we're gonna need to match them as much as possible.
3. We need Dobes and Fowler to be their best selves.
4. We're gonna need to play tough and play tough EARLY. Finish every check and if Perry or Sabourin so much as breathes on our stars, I want immediate responses. SET THE TONE.
GO HABS GO!!! I think we can win this one boys.
Shaun the graphics, backdrop, aesthetic is not very good. Try a sleeker modern aesthetic
2 questions
– I know it isn't how things are done these days, but why don't the Habs try 2 defenseman on PP2 once in a while, with more emphasis on point shots and screens?
– How does Mr. D'amico view the effect of so many of the Habs players being young husbands and/or new fathers?
Habs in 7 and Noah Dobson will come back in the Series and Dobes will be in the heads of the Tampa Bay.
I wonder if the officials will call cross checks to the face this post season.
reinbacher alrdy better than Struble, X and Carrier, insane hes not starting on the 2nd pair and throw him into the fire, he rdy
reinbacher should play with hutson , lets hope they dont wait too long
No Saturday games means less money for sportscrap. I'm good with that
Win or lose I Hope it goes to 7 so they can feel and learn from dealing with high pressure, high stakes post season situations.
Habs desperately need some depth scoring. We need andy to be a beast and kirby to play like he used to in blackhawk days. Slaf needs to turn into olympic slaf as well and please someone step up and give demi some help on line 2. Go habs go. Heart says habs in 7 and head says bolts in 6.
Reasons why i dont like our chances. 1. Without Dobson who is the Habs best dman. He led the league in blocking shots. Who can step up and take all those minutes. 2. no home ice advantage. Cooper gets last change and matchups are so important. 3. Hedman is rested and ready to go. 4. The past couple games the Habs PP struggled versis the Tampa PK. 5. Dobes has been great but its his 1st playoffs so its hard to say how he will perform. Im still hoping 🙏 but it will not be easy. I would rather have Carolina who in my opinion is a much easier opponent.
The key to the series for me is Habs Power play Have to make the Lighting pay- Habs in 7
Rheinbacher and Pickford should never be traded. RHD is gold as we can see missing from this lineup.
Bolduc – Kapanen – Dach…I can't believe that MSL is doing this.
Habs will figure it out how the habs will get inside on 5-5 and on PP
Habs in 4..book it
Nick knocking up his wife 9 months before the playoffs is about as positive as self-owns get.
Hi👋 really though habs would lose in 6 maybe 7, but dobson out. games will be close, but over in 5 imo,
Tampa in six–because I agree with Marco: they are the best team in the East, and they have an elite goaltender and coach. I think the Habs can win this series, but their challenge is going to be improving their play in their own end. They are far too passive, do not pressure the puck when they have chances, and lose coverage far too frequently. Jon Cooper knows that, and the Lightning are going to forecheck like mad, and attempt to exploit that weakness. On the other hand, if the Canadiens can maintain an elevated pace throughout the series, they might be able to wear Tampa down. Fascinating matchup. Canadiens have several potential x-factors: Dobes, Slaf, and Demidov. I expect Suzuki, Caufield, and Hutson to be stellar.
All of Tampa's older elites are a year older… a year slower… a year closer to retirement…
All of the Habs' elites are a year more experienced… and pushing around 22… 23… 24
Very much agree with Marco on the Hutson/Carrier or Arber/carrier pairings. I’m in the camp that Hutson / Carrier is too small to break up play if the Lightning are able to establish a cycle, but it’s probably the best option we have. Would expect them to primarily be on the ice with the first line to influence possession.
Carrier coming back is a horrible situation. He should be sitting with Monty indefinitely.
watch out for Fowler too
I think the Habs take this in 6. The Lightning are talented and experience matters BUT they have bowed out first round 4 years in a row, I feel MTL believes they can play and beat Tampa , unlike last year where there was a sense of awe/shock they were in the playoffs.
Fowler will be the #1 goalie next year
no no
call Mcleans Public House for reservation on mezzanine
the girl who answered did not know anything about it
and anyway…no reservations are made during playoffs hockey
so…!!!!!
Habs in six or/if game 7 in Tampa could very well be Tampa winning ☝️
Texier has a history covering the Kochy Guy , when with Columbus and actually got him suspended for one game 😊
Round One
TB in 5
Bruins in 6
Canes in 7
Flyers in 5
Avs in 4
Stars in 7
Utah in 6
Oilers in 7
Montreal played their best game of the season in that 2-1 victory……the Lightning did not. Now they're injury free and ready for playoff hockey.
If Mtl had a 2nd line center and Noah Dobson, I would have considered them the winner in 6…….but they're shorted handed with a one line scoring team.
If Slaf moves to the 2nd line, Habs in 6.
I think Habs win it in six…maybe even in 5 ..
I forget who reported it but Hedman will be there for game 1, so good for him, but it sucks for us lol
Its not that bad the game is schedule for 17h45 😊
No I can't see Tampa upsetting Habs.
Next question.
Marco is always against the habs, why is he even on this show if its a habs show
Tampa is not that good there have been games this year where Tampa looked awful it all comes down to the opposition which is sooooo hit n miss.MTL has been pretty much consistent with inconsistent play but that win over Tampa was their best game of the year by a landslide and yet they still struggled to win. However a couple weeks prior they beat Tampa 4-1 and MTL didn't play all that well but this over rated vasi in net is VERY beatable just stop shooting ti right at him.
What Tampa does is cheat the game very well holding interference nothing gets called but when it does when we do get a ref that calls the game properly MTL's PP MUST do a lot better than what it does every single night.
MTL needs to stop being a lazy perimeter team get bodies to the crease get shots on net with traffic don't just fire shots from anywhere with nobody going to the net.
If MTL put on their IQ hats and played the game properly they could literally sweep Tampa 4 straight they are quicker faster but if they just continue this lazy perimeter game I would be very surprised they make it to game 6.
All it takes is 4 quality shots and you can score 4 goals on Vasi.
If Slaf gets anotehr break 1 on 1 with the goalie he has to elevate that shot don't make Vasi look good sliding it into his pads all these little things are part of hockey IQ not rocket science just be SMART.
Habs are getting smoked in these playoffs. Hedman will be playing game 1 and he's fresh?? Tampa in 6 unfortunately.
Evans / Danault / Anderson great for-checking line. I like it.
No upset. Habs D will be exposed and blown away by Tampa. No Dobson. Matheson lack of speed exposed. Struber and Xhejai out of their depth. Hutson too busy attacking instead of defending, Reinbacher and Engstrom too inexperienced for playoff hockey. Carrier available or not doesn't make a difference. Guhle ok but not elite. Vasilevsky better than Dobes/Fowler. Tampa's Hab killers: Kucherov, Guentzel, Raddysh, Point and Paul. Oh, and Cooper is a better coach than St. Louis. At least Cooper knows how to make effective changes in-game.
I'm a Habs fan but Tampa takes this one I think. They are just too good. But it will be a fun series either way.
We have no secondary scoring.
Plus Evans and Danault are the best faceoff guys too
Habs in 6…Hutson leading scorer.
Sorry. Only 2 difficult to play against players. Should have signed an energy forward instead of Texier. Kent obviously knows something I don't.
