I really don't see what the big deal is. The team scratched him the last two games of the season, he's not coming back, why would he want to go to a press conference where the press are going to be picking at his scabs? I'd do the Irish Goodbye too.
At least his point total to salary paid was a better deal than our $11,600 000 flop.
Kane has been and always will be a whiny turd. Good riddance.
I don't have any hard feelings for the guy.
I never saw him as an answer to anything Vancouver needed. Just a more expensive older Dak.
His stats got padded over the years by playing with McDavid and Drai and Vancouver management fell for the pumped stats.
He was never a goal scorer outside of like two years a decade ago. He was slow, he didn't have a good shot, he didn't throw many his compared to others, he didn't fight more than others, he wasn't healthy (and also wasn't healthy in Edmonton)
There were so few plus sides to adding him to the team. That being said he certainly was not the cause of Vancouver's problems, he just didn't solve any of them
He had to meet Garland at Kash Patel's house.
He doesn't show up because he is not going to back next season, as simply as that😅
At this point, I just hope whoever the new GM is, he ignores the Oilers’s phone calls this off season since they’ve fleeced us in two straight. We gave up Podkolzin for a 4th and he’s blossomed in Edm. Then we helped them with their cap issue by taking Kane. They should have given US the 4th rounder to take him with no retention. It’s those types of deals that have kept the Canucks from any sustained success.
I was one of the people on the fence for him. He really wanted to end his career here as a Canuck and I hoped it would motivate him. My main thought he was washed up already but might be able to squeeze out a bit more. Reality is we are not the Oilers and he had a heavy burden and was not able to carry it out. The Oilers did not have to rely on him a lot but the Canucks needed the young Kane who had diminished at least 5 years ago. Hard to be the guy when the team is weak and fragile then the load is heaped upon you. He probably did not play much different than he did in Edmonton. Just that their team is way better and he could look better.
Just a big disappointment as a north vancouver bred player.
There should have been one panel at the Canucks year end press conference of three guys named Pettersson.
Kane wasn't here for most of the season, so it's not a big surprise. When he failed to show up in the game that Washington came to town be get physical, after Chytil got taken out by a predatory hit by Wilson, I was done with him. Kane only fought for Kane.
Bo Horvat was not there HA HA HA
Picking him up without fleecing EDM was a big loss.
Good reporting and commentary Lego, thanx!
I feel like he could have actually helped some of these teams during a playoff run especially if motivated.
