Man, who do we pass next season? Not passing Tampa. Not passing Montreal. Not passing Ottawa. Not passing Buffalo. So, Boston, maybe? Florida is going to be healthy and hungry to get their Cup back. We could be the 6th best team in the league, but if the 5 teams ahead of us are all in the Atlantic, no playoffs for us. You have so many young guys coming in on other teams that are making an immediate impact. We don't really have that with our young guys. I just don't see how we're not 7th or 8th in the division next season, which would be Yzerman's 8th here and 8th out of the playoffs.
Maybe I'm just dooming, but I've lost hope in the Yzerplan. This season broke me.
Post season interviews left me scratching my head. How is it that all the fans, and Todd, can see what the problems are on this team? But when the players talk it’s “I thought we played well” or “this is the right group” or “I don’t know why we collapse.”
Everyone knows the bottom 6 need to go, and that Larkin needs to be the 2C. There is a MASSIVE culture problem in this locker room. This season had all of the momentum going into it, and yet the cracks in the foundation of this roster once again swallowed our playoff chances. I blame Yzerman. Botched trade deals, HORRIBLE, free agent signings, and no superstar prospects. With all of the assets that we currently have within the organization, this is probably the best we’ll ever do. And with Yzerman’s track record of being reserved when it comes to splash signings, I don’t see how we beat out everyone else in the east who’s outpacing our rebuild.
This season was soul-crushing.
How do you not bring up what Faulk said? He basically said this team is full of a bunch of pussies that don't hold each other accountable, they don't challenge each other, and they're not willing to make it uncomfortable for each other when players they underperform. His interview was the biggest indictment of the lack of leadership within the players on this team. Larkin needs stop giving reach arounds after morning skate and save them for after the game and only if they win!

For all the fans holding to the hope of Griffins coming to rescue think again. All the top players there are older career minor leaguers. The hot shot prospects aren't doing squat. Mazur's 9 games with goose eggs for stats is a startling example.

I think Mo‘s answears to the media were far more close to how a captain should sound like than how Larkin did. I understand the feelings, but you’re the captain and you should be angry enough at the situation. He struggled to give meaningful answers or could not answear the questions at all.
For me it was the Florida game we were still kind of shoe in at that time. Losing the game in the last 90 sec. That was when I was like are they really doing this again.

About Chiarot availabillity, he echoed what's been a major issue for several years now and the most OBVIOUS reason why Detroit fall appart in March every year when things get tighter = it just get more into physical playoff hockey, which this team aint built for.
J.T Compher had 22 hits over 82 games! Söderblom had more in his first 5 games after the trade deadline for Pittsburgh. But Elmer was "soft" strictly because he is a euro player, right? We essentielly replaced Elmer (we trades him to Pittsburgh simple because we needed another 3rd round pick after the trade for…) Perron, who effectively hurt this team with -10, 18PiM and just 3 points in 16 games… Maybe we should STOP trading AWAY young size and physicallity, instead of collecting 30+ year old "jerseys" doing cardio every game… Say what you want about Söderblom's production in Detroit, point stands when he ACTUALLY got a legit chance (playing 15+ mins a game on a 3rd line) he showed what this team obviously where not valueing with playing 8 mins a night on a 4th line with the ultimate cardio north american players in Compher & Rasmussen (8 PiM the whole season compared to Edvinsson 75 as the team leader in fights and physicallity).
But yeah, euro players are to "soft" is all im hearing, maybe look at the REAL issue on this team, it sure isn’t the euros not giving the real effort (Kasper lead the team in hits & should be the guy to keep around between him and Nate Danielson, who just had 3 hits in 18 games…) game in, game out.
Copp doesn't play heavy, he avoids contact.

Too many guys who literally bring nothing to the tqble other than above average faceoff percent. Rasmussen, copp, compher, and Appleton need to be dumped, those are supposed to be guys that fight for pucks in the corners, they don't. They can't win hardly any one on one battles in the dzone or the offensive zone. At this ppint id be hapoy with them dumping those 3 players and just bringing up griffins next year. One of their prized prospect goalies needs to be offered in a trade with either razor or larkin to get a top center if yzerman cant sign a free agent in the off season, and even then im not aure the wings get what they need with their unproven assets.
