  1. Sorry for ruining your favorite number, Rey Mysterio, but I had to be the 620th like. 😅

  2. It was really Utah's game to lose, their defence broke down completely in the 3rd. If this series doesn’t prompt some coaching changes in the off-season then they're not going to improve all that much on the Yotes record

  3. Boy oh boy was there a lot of scrums. Wasn't aware these teams don't like each other. And what was the deal with ref during face off 95% of the time kicking out one of the guys in the circle? Seemed rather arbitrary and both teams were kicked out regularly. Go knights go

  4. IMHO this was the most physical game. Was fun to watch but I have to admit I was rooting for The Tusks and it was clear they were getting very frustrated at the end. Vegas really knows how to choke the neutral zone.

  5. I was at the game. Playoff environment was in full force. Utah fans showed up but couldn't take what they dished out when the Utah Sucks chant came out which seemed to also rattle the players.
    Can't wait for game 2

  6. The crowd was actually chanting “We want the Cup” (not “Utah sucks”). A bit premature, perhaps, but great sentiment!

  7. The Refs were completely blind last night. That head butt was just one example. Dersey should be gone from the series for that per the rules, but will probably get a $12.13 fine from the Department of Ignoring Player Safety.

  8. All these sensitive people need to grow some thick skin. If you don't like the "Utah Sucks" chants, then maybe don't come to our arena and try to start a "Let's Go Utah" chant. We're gonna drown you out quickly.

  9. As someone from Vegas, i should have seen that "utah sucks" chant coming a mile away 😂

  10. Some of the best opening round matchups in recent playoff memory. Genuinely so excited by so many of these series. Massive thanks Shannon for helping keep us all up to date!

  11. The amount of fights in the playoffs makes me think the Stanley Cup Playoffs should be either called; Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Tekken, or Super Smash Brawl.

  12. UTA outplayed VGK, and I think they are a better team, but UTA gave up two, if not three, bad turnovers at the centerline that became goals. So 3 VGKs board a Mam, Smith comes out of it with a bloody fat lip, and he's whining about a non-call. Typical Vegas…Is it just me, or is anybody else highly annoyed with Four Letter announcers? Multiple PxPs were just shredding their epiglotti. I can't believe these guys even got out of broadcasting school…I've got a better solution for the goalie pulls. Just don't do it. Period. It's stupid…

  13. ik this goes for every team, but if utah specifically can just stay out of the box they could be great. im probably over overexaggerating it a bit, but every time they blow a lead its cause we let up a pp goal and then we just cant get our momentum back. hoping the playoff jitters are out of the way in that first game and they can bounce back tomorrow.

  14. I have watched hockey for 50 years. It was a wild and rough game. Over the years it evolved into a more skilled game with less dirty plays and fighting (with the exception of some teams). It wouldn't be hockey without some fights and hard checking, but this game reminded me of the old days with the way VGK play. Do they really need to try to disable an opposing player with an extra aggressive check or fight (scrum?) at every turn? I saw many scrums with two VGK on one Utah player or unlimited headlocks. Everyone is whining about a headbutt, when JJ was high sticked, Keller's stick held, etc. The refs were equally(?) blind to many infractions. VGK 2nd lowest penalized team? With their style of play, that is suspicious.
I like hockey that is played and won with speed, skill, and tough play. Not a contest who can hit and fight the hardest with the intent to hurt and maim. I don't expect it to ever be a 'tame' game. I wouldn't be hockey if it was, but THE VGK can certainly win games without the over the top aggression. Just play the game. Teams are comprised of players of different sizes, ages, maturity, experience, and skills. Why try to win by brute strength and aggresstion than your skill? Hockey has a lot of fans that live for that type of play, but just think how popularit would be without the OVER aggression. Look at the Olympics, there were hard hits, penalties, and some fighting (which is against the Olympic rules), but not the brutality that was displayed in this game. Yes, by the final olympic game, it got a little out of hand (loss of teeth), but nothing like this 1st game of the 1st round.
My question of shannon, is how do you not engage in the physical game a scrums when they happen. I understand if you're checked hard into the wall to the extent of being lifted off the ice, just get up and not engage. But, when the scrums start by the other team with being punched, outnumbered (2v1), head locks, etc., how do you not engage when drawn into it? You can't just skate off. I can see that now, the player not engaging being labeled a coward or wuss. Do they just stand there and take it? How do you avoid getting pulled into that type of game?
The next question is how does the league get the referees to call an equally fair game? Call every infraction every time. If it's in the rules, it gets called. Be aware of fake falls, etc. That will shut up the whiners about dirty play and one sided calls.
This is just my opinion, you don't have to agree. But, I would appreciate you're thinking about it.
Look forward to the rest of the series. Hope it is less brutal and more skills based. But, unfortuately, it won't be. 🤔🤨😒

  15. The mammoth had horrible puck control… they couldn’t even complete a pass in the third period I swear😂 Vegas was aggressive!

  16. Good show from Utah with a lot of young guns. Lots of late / after whistle cross checks by Vegas that they are getting away with.
