I’ve seen the totally sane people on Instagram and Facebook saying Todd McLellan should be fired. That he isn’t the guy and all that.
I think he deserves one more season for sure, and even beyond that. I think he’s a hellva coach that just needs to wring the losing stink out of this team.
Several times during the season I proclaimed this team was different because we had a comeback from behind and showed fight.
I still maintain there were six games I can pinpoint however that directly contributed to the failure to make the playoffs. Six games we should have had 2 points instead of 0 points. All after the break and 4 in March alone.

I thought next season might be fun if instead of retiring, Ovi signed with Pittsburgh to play with Crosby. Like I’d actually root for something like that….
But, man, talk about a team that looks like it played out of their league this year. Pittsburgh is in for a rough rebuild.

I’m confused about the folks saying goalie prospects have little trade value.
Askarov went for basically 2 first round picks and I’d argue he’s as touted as Cossa is. And, Askarov had demanded a trade so Nashville was in a bit of a bind there.
If these are thoughts swirling around in Stevie’s mind, the AHL playoffs will certainly tell if one of Cossa or Postava could fetch us something nice. Or, hell, once Edmonton crashes out due to goaltending maybe we trade Gibson and go into next year with Postava and Cossa as our goaltenders. I wouldn’t say no if it got us one of Savoie, Howard or Podkolzin.
It is shockingly alarming how far away both talent and chemistry wise this roster is from looking like any of the teams I’ve watched in the last two days.

I find it kind of strange Werenski seems to be everyone’s runaway pick for the Norris this year. He’s a great player for sure, but he is the same all offense-no defense type as Hutson and Bouchard. He didn’t lead the league in any offensive categories, and hes on a non playoff team.
Kind of feels like hes just « due » in a year without a clear winner. I also think his international play the past 2 seasons has put a spotlight on him.
My wife and kids are all sick. I can see my future. I don’t like it.

I saw a random Reddit post about baptizing an Octopus. I am willing to try anything. Let’s baptize an octopus at center ice in the name of the hockey gods and get this curse of March lifted for next year.
I see the NHL is doing the usual NHL thing, fucking up playoff goal reviews. That first OT goal by Carolina that was called off was a good goal. It didn’t ultimately change the outcome of the game, just make it drag on longer unnecessarily. Still, it’s further evidence that the league still hasn’t figured out how to review anything properly.
