@Ducks d'Anaheim

Considering we had a game earlier in the season where Minty got hit in the face with a puck and went down–and the refs just let the other team skate around him and score without a whistle, and then seeing that last night was infuriating. Just be consistent for fuck’s sake.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought they were going to call a penalty at first.

I think it was because there was a concern it was a head injury…?

  3. drumsareneat

Because the refs are morons and/or they hate us.

Broken Hyman on the ice. Cant let an oil spill create a stain, but if it was a Duck, we play on.

    Refs you suck!

Because Edmonton had control of the puck and they had an injured player on the ice. If we had control the play would have continued. That is the difference between this and when Minty got hit in the chest with the puck, we never got control which would have stopped the play.

Was going from memory. Just re-watched and the commenters are correct ED never had control. Whistle doesn’t make sense in that context.

  6. Dr_Hilarious

There is no answer other than the refs just felt like doing Edmonton a favor

  7. LuckyRacoon01

Someone on another thread mentioned that someone threw a beer on the ice. I can’t confirm it.

That whistle made no sense at all.

They were « worried » about a head injury. The issue is they blew it dead way too quickly because Hyman was clearly stunned by getting hit by brick shit house. Like there was no head contact (and i know you can get concussed with whiplash) but there was nothing to indicate he had hit his head.

The refs obviously have a dog in this race or the nhl has asked them to make sure Edmonton doesn’t get embarrassed or eliminated… they need McDavid to win or else Edmonton about to blow up and lose lots of fan $$$&

Does anyone have a video of the hit?

Anaheim does not get special treatment like other teams; the NHL would rather Edmonton win because McDavid and Draisaitl draw ratings where Anaheim does not. So when Edmonton struggles, as Anaheim had the puck with Hyman on the ground, the refs will do things like this to tip the scales in the other direction or to eliminate chances for Anaheim.

To throw a bone to the home crowd.

  18. CDNBroncoDieHard

Hyman looked like a little boy atta boy Jackson!

  19. Whiskeyjack19

They aren’t supposed to blow it dead if the offensive team has a legit scoring chance.

  20. Because NHL wants McGiggles back in the final.
(Jk, but hoping the ducks can pull an upset or at least game 7) imo they played good with the exception of a few plays.

  21. TufftedSquirrel

Ref error I’m guessing. They saw what was a potential head injury and blew the play dead even though the Ducks had possession. It’s a very fast game and the ref just probably misread the situation. Sucks, but it happens.

  22. TWIRLYBISCUIT

Oilers fan, It was a nice hit and shouldn’t have been blown down, my only complaint was that it looked like an elbow that was a bit high. Though again, bad call to blow it dead

  23. Sea-Star8753

LaCombe barely participated in it though. Hyman basically took himself out

  24. mrpototto

    rule 8.1

When a player is injured so that he cannot continue play or go to his bench, the play shall not be stopped until the injured player’s team has secured control of the puck. If the player’s team is in control of the puck at the time of injury, play shall be stopped immediately unless his team is in a scoring position.

In the case where it is obvious that a player has sustained a serious injury, the Referee and/or Linesperson may stop the play immediately.

    Discretion.
