They don't have a chance. Honestly, Bedard isn't nearly as good as ppl thought he would be. Celebrini is that guy. Bedard ain't.
FYI Shannon, max term for contracts decreases from 8 to 7 on september 15 start of next years training camp
If Kane came back that would be amazing
That terrible stretch coincided with Bedard and Nazar going down at the same time. If that doesn’t happen they’re much closer in the race for the playoffs
People tend to forget that the Blackhawks are improving every year. This year and last year they’ve increased they’re points totals by ten each year
I’d put Kantserov on the board before Boisvert. Most likely that Boisvert will be in Rockford for most of the year
I expect Bedard to have a Celebrini tier season next year
Fantastic overview. Really appreciate the knowledge.
People need to stop crying about Chicago picking high in the draft. In 63 years of the NHL draft Chicago has picked first only two times. People crying like it's every year. Losers.
Toronto needs to rebuild. Chicago should move some draft picks for Matthews or Knies. If Chicago drops out of the top 2 maybe think of moving the pick.
Thank you ,Hawks and Flyers fan .Playoffs-continue. Blackhawks need to resign Mikahev, Trade Soderblom to Pittsburghto be with his brother for Justin Braseau 1b for penguins next year, Trade for Jake DBrusk maybe Terravinen or Donato ,They need to shake up there Blueliners , adding size, I don’t think they’re getting Knies . What happened to Rockford??
thg hawks vid🤩
Blackhawks, Only team to ALWAYS have a top 5 lottery pick and never get better…
Bedard and Nazar injuries affected this season. Söderblom's goaltending affected the season. Söderblom has been great for tanking for these past couple years and he's a big reason we got Bedard and have a good shot at either McKenna or Stenberg but it's time to move on from him now. Central Division is going to be tough to crack through next season but as long as the Hawks still play meaningful games in the beginning of March and improve their points total from this year I will be a happy camper and satisfied. They should probably trade one of their highly touted forward prospects (Vanacker, Boisvert, Pridham, Nestrasil, West) for a proven defenseman as well and obviously make room for Frondell and Kantserov.
No
Connor Bedard will get 8 years / $12,000,000
Excited for the HAWKS, BEARS and CUBS!!! It's exciting in Chicago right now.
This is Chicagos year.
Blashill would have to be a psychopath to not feel some serious pressure right now. Slightly worse record to start the year? Hes getting blamed. Stagnant player development? He’s getting blamed. Beer prices at the United center go up? I’m blaming him for sure.😂
still on a good direction
I took a flyer for a playoff birth at the beginning of the season at +2200 and honestly, until the Bedard and nazar injuries, they were on pace. If they actually want to get there, they have got to shore up the blue line and the time to do it is right fn now. Frondell is a game changer and if we can not force our goalies to make 40+ saves a night Hawks will be in the thick of it next year.
Love the growth of my Blackhawks over the past few years; gotta give to get. Trade for a proven vet and send a prospect and picks? UFA market this summer looks barren. (Patrick in Chicago) //Thanks Shannon for your world class content: thorough, fair, and with a side order of Playful WIT.
We got frondell, will get kansterov, and possibly a top 6 winger if we dont get top 2 in draft, we are gonna be crazy soon
GO HAWKS!!!
predicting 85 points next year, which this year would put then right in the pack for the final spot.
When I think about Chicago I grit my teeth, because Bettman might just Bettman the draft lottery and then there goes McKenna to a team which is already well stocked with great youth players. (Bettman will definitely arrange another "fuck you" to the Canucks if he can.) Still, Chicago will get a very good player out of it.
Bedard is well over a point a game, despite being overshadowed this year; if he was not injured he'd have been in some kind of scoring race with Celebrini for points (and would/should have been in the Olympics). However, I think a max term contract for him would be a big mistake (for him); I don't think it is wrong to pay him star money, but he has not really proved himself, so if the terms are over-generous and over-long it can actually damage his development & career.
I could give examples of how inflated expectations can destroy a young player's career, but everyone here knows them.
Hot take: this was a wasted year. Yeah losing Bedard, Nazar & Knight for extended time hurt, but if Davidson actually splurged on the bounty that was the 2025 FA market, we might’ve been able to survive the blows & make it to the playoffs. Kyle Davidson track record: excellent at trades, big hits & misses when it comes to drafting, horrific FA signings. Guy’s done great getting Nazar, Oliver Moore, Rinzel etc…even if drafting Artym 2nd overall appears to be a bad pick; he’s aced the biggest trades with Montreal, Edmonton & Florida, but my god HE SUCKS with FAs. Ehlers, Boeser, Marner, Florida had a few forwards, Gavrikov, Provorov etc…but all he gets is andre burakovsky last year. This should’ve been the return to the postseason given how weak the West was outside the top 3 teams. Instead, another top 3 pick likely. I’m not upset over it, but it gives fuel to the rumours that we’re unethically tanking to stack the roster. Which could’ve been avoided had we gotten one of the big FAs last summer. We got great forwards coming up & solid goaltending once Soderblom’s gone, but the blueline is as weak as it was when the playoff drought began.
We need to start spending picks & potentially young pieces that aren’t fitting on the squad to get the elite players in the league & stop wasting Bedard’s talent. We already blew his ELC years with no progress we better smarten up now that’ll be getting paid big bucks. My hope is he’ll get a lengthy bridge deal & we actually bring elite players to him along with our prospects
Hawks were looking much improved until a few injuries derailed the success they were having.
Bedard and Nazar where hurt during that stretch of losses. The key to winning is staying healthy.
We add Roman Kantserov this summer!
Wooooo Let's go Hawks baby
Long shot, but how about the Hawks use their draft capital to swing a blockbuster deal. Maybe Toronto finally figures out their cup window is closed and they trade Auston Mathews for a shitload of high draft choices. Hawks have 5 first round picks in the next 3 drafts and 7 second round picks. They could also throw in some good prospects too. The Hawks have too many good prospects to integrate into their future team. Maybe they get Knies too. Hawks management has too make sure that Auston Matthews is healthy. He was playing hurt all year even before Gudas messed up his knee.
