#njdevils #sunnymehta #FloridaPanthers #nicohischier #jackhughes

  1. Will there be a POHO? Some hockey people to counteract the analytic approach or is this hire the Billy Beane of hockey?

  2. This seems like a good hiring…a jersey raised guy, life long fan of the Devils..oh hell make the moves Fitz failed to make. I am hopeful he will sack up and make the ballsy trades.

  3. Markstrom not going anywhere. Maybe team needs to defend the net front better. Not every goal scored is on the goalie. Goalie analytics is the biggest joke in professional sports. Yegorov is the future- 2 years is about right to get him ready. Allen can't play 50+ games- Daws not the answer either

  4. You are right on with this post. Now if we can get a new coach that played on a Jersey Devil Stanely Cup team, that would make Our Team an instant playoff team.for sure The GM move is a start.

  5. I like this hire… but he does have a lot of work to do. Lets see how he handles the current players, and then if he is able to make the moves needed to not only get NJ into the playoffs, but allowing them to make a deep run….. i think he wants NJ to succeed in a big way, and i think he will do whatever he can to make that happen! LGD

  6. I think anyone will do a better job then fumbling fitz. Hopefully mehta moves on from dadonov and tsylopkov and gets nico and gritz signed. Hopefully he trades every draft pick this year and next for win now players ..
I hope he will be like lou and wont be afaid to shake shit up because we all know it needs to be done..

  7. My lord, another devils pundit with no sense of what a GM does…absolutely the only sport that still thinks that playing in the sport is a big qualification. It’s not…hockey lags behind in everything…0 hockey experience needed to be a GM. Ffs the coaches barely do anything, out of all the sports I bet analytically this is the best one for it.

  8. I'm all for bringing in Mehta for the same reasons you mentioned Joe. And I think he's capable of making some big moves that might be shocking to us but maybe needed. He is stepping in at a pivotal time in history for the NJD. We are stacked with talented forwards and we have several great D men but other areas we need some help. We also don't have enough gritty rage under the hood. I don't blame Nico for being tired of losing. I am too. lol I keep laughing when I hear about Scott Wedgewood. We had him 2 different times and he played a total of 20 games for us and we let him go. This year on the Avs he went 31 – 6 – 6. His save percentage was.921 again lol, almost elite. Markey struggled with a .883. Good luck to the new GM.
