What I’m really hoping for with Sunny, is that he can identify a coherent vision for how the roster should play, and do whatever is necessary in service to that vision.
Fitzy was a solid GM, but what killed him was first round drafting and wanting to 180 our play-style to resemble Boston/Florida/Vegas. We aren’t, and probably will never be, any of those teams. We need to build on the style of Utah/Carolina/Colorado, and find those guys that can combine both grit AND skill, but if they can’t be found I’ll settle for skill-first players.

Like for example you would be conservative in not giving out a bunch of no movement clauses to scrubs but then when Quinn Hughes is available you realize the urgency of the moment and act accordingly.

Plus EV poker – Don’t play ever hand, and be aggressive on the ones do you.
I like that he thinks this way.

Yeah yeah whatever. This isn’t poker. We just want results.
I always say at my company that employees rise to the level of their own incompetence. Until you see their actual results after getting a promotion you never really know what you actually have. Sometimes they seem like they’re going to be great then they fall on their faces in the new position, sometimes they shine. Talk is talk & bullshit walks.
All of that said, I hope he’s the next great mind in the NHL and we win 5 Cups in the next 10 years.
