Well Spurgeon is still going to be here next year, and as much as I love Ek it’s fairly obvious the team is chosing between Boldy and Faber when the time comes
Both are getting the same push and vibes we saw from Spurgeon circa 2019-20

A good captain is a calm voice of reason. Ekky is fantastic, but he is the opposite of that. Boldy or Faber are young and disciplined. One of them is the right pick.

Ekky is great but I personally prefer Fabes as our next C. Fabes is good at both offensive and defensive play (which Ekky too) and I like Fabes vibes and energy in the locker room. Ekky would be a great A in our team.

He should’ve been given the C when Koivu retired.

I’m hoping for Boldy, Nick Foligno said in an interview recently that Boldy has great communication in the locker room, and comes up with clever ideas. He said that he can see good leadership in him.

Obviously my opinion doesnt matter at all, especially regarding what pro sports organizations should do, but I feel there is a fairly interesting argument that Yak would be an excellent choice for the role (C or A). Dark horse, sure, but to me, he has that energy about him. He strikes me as a leader. And one who could really learn and thrive within that role. All one-million other variables aside, that is. In the end, I like that this type of choice isnt extremely obvious as the squad is full of what I’d say are solid choices. Really hope to see him and Zuccy back for this series!

Boldy should get it. Even though he is young, he has been on this team a couple years now. Every game I watch he’s the one that stays on the ice to first bump every teammate as they exit. He is not the guy who starts fights either, he has a calm demeanor, but will advocate to the refs if there is a call that he doesn’t think is right. Great in pre and post game press and can see him sticking around in MN even post NHL.

Ek earned it with time served but I’d probably lean more towards Bolds
