  1. It’s just a slight variation on the old playbook for beating the Pens in the playoffs. Slow them down, don’t let them beat you on the rush, play responsible and they will give you enough turnovers that you can jump start your offense from there. Flyers 2012, Trotz in 2018 and 2019, Habs in 2020, Isles again in 2021. Additionally, other than the B2B run the other tried and true gameplan is to antagonize the stars, they have shown they can melt down under constant harassment and have done so again. Just really embarrassing stuff all around and disappointing after a very strong and surprising regular season.

  2. It’s pretty simple: they got their asses kicked. 3 games straight. This guy is about the only sane reporter I’ve heard from little Pittsburgh. If the coach Muse is crying, what will the players do?

  3. If I didn't know better there's no way you could tell me that this team has players that have won multiple stanley cups. If the team has tuned out Muse about dump and chase hockey to play their own way, then I think what Rust did in the second period goes hand and with that. It exemplifies it. You can't over look it. It's not about being shorthanded because it, it's because it was Rust's priority to play that way rather than winning.

  4. DK – J1Q… The Girard trade… I didn't like it from the beginning, but tried to rationalize it as good asset-management because he acquired the second rounder. I didn't understand why he felt the Pens needed ANOTHER offensive-minded defenseman with Karlsson, Letang and Shea in the lineup, and with Brunicke coming up next year. Girard is an overpaid 3rd pairing defenseman. Do you think Dubas finds a way to get him off this roster?

  5. I turned the game off when it was 3-1. I knew it was over. One team really wants it. The other is happy to be there. Unfortunately I assumed the team whose possible last chance at a cup this may be would be the one that wanted it.

  6. Sadly, this thing was over two years ago, I hate beating the same drum, but it’s true.
Playing a team like the Penguins first round is a land mine in itself. May have doomed the flyers to the same fate.

  7. DK mocked anyone who wanted to tank this year – so what does potentially getting swept in the first round do for us other than get a worse draft position? Dubas needs to start the fire sale, this team is far too old and slow for playoff hockey. Keep Crosby, kindel, chinakov, and Soderblom and let anyone and everyone else be available for trade. Get more picks and prospects back and do a proper rebuild

  8. If this is how they wanted to go out, they did it. If this isn't how they wanted to go out, they didn't do it. Game 2 dont let the emotions get to you, get the puck deep. Game 3 don't let the emotions get to you, get the puck deep. Good on Rusty for sticking up for himself, bad on everyone else for not responding to Rusty sticking up for himself by burying a goal or outplaying the man in front of them, winning 1 puck battle, anything.

  9. So much for coach of the year or GM of the year. You can’t get swept by a pathetic rival and win an award. I hope they get swept so we can FINALLY blow this up. It’s over… Do what you have to do, Dubas.

  10. Hey DK, I think we all looked at the stats and figured this series was going to be a walk for the Penguins. After nine periods of hockey there is not a single honorable mention in the playoffs, and I refference this to the Boston series. Crosby is non existent, he isn't leading or producing, hell the one glaring advantage the Penguins had was at the faceoff circle and he 's not winning there either. These three games tarnishes all the good they did for 82 games, it really does. I hate to call out the supporting cast but Mantha is invisible, Novak, Dewar, Chininkov, and boy I'd sure be thinking of sitting Kindle right now! But too be fair, this team played above their heads all year, almost like playoff hockey and now there's no additional gear to hit……that includes Sid, Geno, Rust, Karlsson, and Rakell. But it doesn't end there, now this is where my blood pressure begins to rise, I don't put too much on Muse, what he accomplished this season with the personell he had was amazing, especially after the tenure of Sullivan, who in my mind helped create a resentment for the game and a losing culture for the players.
But DK, let's dig in………you praised Dubas all year and many of his moves were paying off so we thought. But as long as you have Kris Letang on the ice, at least in a defensive role, move him up) this team will not win. As long as you have Bryan Rust on your top line losing possession and flubbing plays, you won't win. When you bring in size but they don't play physical you don't win. When you run with the absolutely worst goal tending in the league and expect 3.5 goal per night, you're not winning. But with all the decisions Dubas made, he sat on a pile of cash, and brought in a oopa loopa, 5'10" 170 pound Girard to solidfy the defense with Letang!!!! No physical presense, not a great playmaker, and oh yeah….170 pounds!!!!
Truth be told, I am not disappointed, I am disgusted. There isn't an ounce of toughness with this team. When they were losing series to the NYR and NYI, the first line was getting smashed and hammered, Guentzel and Rust became gunshy and Crosby would then get frustrated. Well add a few years and it sure looks like the Flyers stole the script, and the Penguins have no answer. Can we now say its time to move away from some of the old guard………can we say its time to spend some money and not retool, start rebuilding this franchise. There's absolutely no way you head into next season with Skinner, Letang, Girard, Rust and dare I say some of the guys up front. The season is now, this is what you play for, and this team ain't built for this season!
Wow I just realized I described what happened with Toronto all those years with Dubas, great regular seasons but lousy in the playoffs. Sometimes it just takes a while to see the clinks in the armor.

  11. This teams needs to be blow up. The core 3 have either forgotten, don't want to or can't do what it takes to win. 8 years without a playoff series win, they are the only common denominator left and they are the leadership of this team. Break it up. Thank you for the memories, but playing like the steelers isn't working. This season went from one of the best to the most disappointing in the Crosby era.

    1) Don't sign Malkin. Which is hard because he's been the most productive player in the series, but we're not going to win with three 40 year olds.
    2) Dump/trade Letang.

    3) Trade Karlsson, the poor man deserves a cup run, but he's also on the wrong side of prime.
    4) Let Mantha walk, he's done nothing, I mean nothing, in the playoffs.
    5) Dump/trade Girard. He should have worked out, but he didn't.
    6) Trade Braz, he came out hot but he cooled off real fast and never got warm again.
    7) I don't want to see Novak in a Pen's uniform ever again.
    8) Entertain offers for Rakell and Rust, but they're still useful.
    9) Bring up Murashov, try to keep Stu to mentor him, trade Silovs.
    10) Fire Muse. We should of hired Tochett, but regardless, Muse was a big playoff disappointment.
    11) I would extend Chinakov for a year or 2 but his lack of productivity in the playoffs is disturbing.
    12) If Sid doesn't like any of the moves, then its time to part ways.

  12. Ya it’s over… so over… garbage… they were a no show from the drop of the first puck. Not ready to handle Philly… cooled themselves down at the end of the year while running into a red hot Philly team but couldn’t get up for it. Crosby is 38 years old… he’s the experience… the leadership… and it was absent… WTF happened… what a sad way to go out

  13. This series has surprised me in almost every negative way possible. And whether it actually had any effect on the outcome or not, I never liked this version of playoff hockey. That game was only a few moments away from ending in a Ned Braden striptease.

  14. Low I.Q. to not realize they're getting baited and to just play the game that got them there instead of trying to go tit for tat. Dumb.

  15. Very disappointed in Muse. The line combinations and not putting Chinakhov on the top PP are one thing. Skinner was bad and letting in goals in the second period. You need to change the momentum and pull the goalie. Coach did nothing. Then he excuses his team’s play by focusing on the refs, who were bad but is not the reason they lost

  16. I think DK is right about what the plan should be, but hockey is not played in a vacuum…there is another team playing. I think what happened in last night early on and what happened early on in game 1 is that the Flyers came out banging too much after the puck was gone and taking themselves partly out of the plays allowing the Pens easier access into the zone..They were far too much concerned about hitting and were missing many of their hits early on as a result. They quickly adjusted and went back to their trapping style..playing the man rather than the puck, clogging up the middle, and knowing how much interference they could get away with. That's how they play. Makes for really bad but effective hockey. I'm interested in seeing how the next team up deals w. the Flyers style of play. I dont think they will allow the Flyers to get away with that nonsense and the Flyers have no other way to win with the lineup they have. If the TV ratings for this series were lousy, will the refs be told to call more of the many infractions that are not called in the next round? Will Muse make any adjustments going into game 4 just so they might know what to do the next time they get a team like this.? and why was Kindell even out there..he was a kid playing against the men..he isnt sturdy enough for playoffs hockey yet…he just kept getting trucked.

  17. crosby haS BEEN A DIVER HIS WHOLE CAREER; THERE ARE VIDEOS ABOUT HIS DIVING; ASK any PLAYERWHO HAS PLAYED HIM

  18. Thank you DK. I totally agree. It's a mess and changes will follow. What the final game shows will stand. all next season. Great show DK

  19. Fortunately, there's someone who tells it like it is. Some other outlets continue to find someone else to blame. I don't need to watch it again, I saw everything and knew we've lost long before we did. Crosby was also complaining about the brawl, but he could've won an offensive zone faceoff on PP at least once before the game was over. He did win one in the 3rd period. I do disagree on Skinner. He played his heart out, but any goalie will succumb, sooner or later, when left so exposed. Vladar wasn't even close to being tested throughout all 3 games. I absolutely agree on Muse. It's one or the other.

  20. Geno and Rakell have been frustrating me with the horrible passing always giving the puck up. Mantha has disappeared. Chinakhov apparently can't handle the toughness and aggression of the playoffs.

  21. What happened to the Troy Loney, Phil Bourque, Bob Errey, Patric Hornquist, Max Talbot type players? Dump and Chase grinders that shifted momentum and played extremely physical.

  22. I wouldn't blame Kyle Dubas. Before this season started, the objective was to build for the post-Crosby era. Dubas has stated publicly that he wants the team to get to the playoffs again before the trio retire, however the Penguins had less than a 10% chance of making the playoffs. Realistically, the choice was to build for the future or push for the playoffs, but not both. However, Pittsburgh somehow made it. So, that fact, combined with how many draft picks the Penguins have stocked up on, I say Dubas is performing well right now.

  23. It seems that they stopped playing hard for the Playoffs. The magnitude of the change is overwhelming. Unbelievable.
DK, your BOSS 😂, Taylor, & Chris great!

  24. Its a little disingenuous to say its the leagues worst power play which ignores the introduction of porter martone. Not malpractice but disingenuous

  25. get the puck deep into their zone. Worked GREAT for first 5 minutes. then what…….?!

  26. Considering I saw the Pens as a bottom 3 team in a pre season power ranking, I’m satisfied with the season. That said, apparently 52% of adults in Philadelphia are functionally illiterate, Philly was the city with second highest STI rate in 2025 and is usually top 5, and their response to their opiod crisis is to distribute hundreds of thousands of naloxone syringes so people can keep overdosing instead of getting clean

  27. Lifelong Flyer fan here. Born and raised in the Philly area. The Pens have had a great run. I can recall Ulf, Mario, Jagr and then you have Crosby, Malkin and LeTang. Those guys are showing their age. They ran into a young team with no pressure, no expectations and that makes the Flyers the most dangerous team in the playoffs.I've always had great respect for your organization but I'm wondering if it's passed time to move on from the old guys? Look, you guys had a great run for many years. Be happy about that and be patient in the offseason. Here, Briere and Jones have a plan and they are sticking to it. Tocchet, who you know quite well is the best coach for this group right now. Get a little bigger up the middle and a D-Man with some size and next year the Flyers will be very tough.

  28. Buddy im sorry but you change your tune every game and embrace something you wrote off after the last one. I know you cant overtly shit on the product and have to take care of your approach being in the media but this team has never been run by a coach. Its why sullivan hung around unnaturally long. They show up to compete or not. They are capable. Its ego or personality problems or something in the room. Superstar athletes. But dont retcon stuff you argued for just like a day ago.
