  1. Normally I would say "Good morning, good afternoon, and good night Bridgeport" but knowing that they won't be coming back that would be an insult.

  2. As a Connecticut resident, I’ll miss going to see the Bridgeport Islanders. Although, who even knows if that is the end of ice hockey in Bridgeport or not, as despite the fact that I don’t think the Park City will have the AHL ever again, I could potentially see Total Mortgage Arena landing an ECHL franchise in the future. The ECHL is a NHL-affiliated minor hockey league that serves as the tier below the AHL. Should this wish of mine occur, it would probably take at least a few years before minor league hockey returns to Bridgeport. Until then, they would just host all of the stuff that they do today, minus the now-departed AHL team. We have a very decent arena with a wide opening for a new tenant, despite us not being that big of a market, which makes us a potential good home for a lower-tiered league like the ECHL. I also have a suggestion for the team’s name, that is, if it ever happens! It should definitely be a somewhat-revival of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The most notable difference is, with Bridgeport not being that well-known of a city, the team would instead be known as the Connecticut Sound Tigers. That way, more people would go to the games, or at least be attracted. The Bridgeport Islanders were only targeted towards Fairfield County, resulting in lower attendance, which is why they are leaving in the first place. This ECHL franchise would be targeted towards the whole state, at least via the name, which like I said, should be the Connecticut Sound Tigers. This new team would also likely have different colors and uniforms, in order to not be related to the New York Islanders but rather their own thing, as the Isles probably won’t be their NHL counterpart. It would probably be a different team. But we would have to see what happens in the end with TMA. I’m not forcing this idea though. It’s just a possible suggestion, having the ECHL move in after 2-3 years of other events.
