1. All the teams we thought were on the downturn before the year started and ended up back in the playoffs have toughness. They have absolute dogs that can run guys through the glass and beat the brakes off people that run their stars. Those guys absolutely ignite their rooms. Also, Ras disappeared since that dirty headshot from Zegras

  2. Could we not have kept Elmer at least for the 4th line? Ras is blocking a lot of other players, no matter which line we are talking about. A thought he would have been better, but he has to go.

  3. Here we are, seven years in, and the team isn’t good enough.
“Good young players” in Grand Rapids, while 30+ year olds continue to lead the way there and now we are thinking of trading them for actual NHL players.

Coach still doesn’t know why the team crumpled, why they can’t score at 5on5, why he can’t motivate them.

“These things take time” is still the refrain of defenders of this rebuild. “The cupboard was bare”. And on and on.
The Winged Wheel in the Sky Keeps on Turning…

  4. Here is something that has crept up on all of us; Mazur, Wallinder, Lombardi, and Cossa all would have to pass through waivers to go to Grand Rapids next season. So unless Yzerman wants to potentially lose some of them for nothing those four will be on the 2026 opening night roster.

  5. Oh god. 5 minutes in and it sounds like theres going to be a lot of excuse making for Yzerman. "We need better players." Ya, whos fault is that? He just said the same garbage again. Dont worry, well be right back here again next year.

  6. I know this is childish, but the collective reaction to "being big on Johnson" was quite funny.

  7. If Gibson is the guy next year and they are in a tough spot with Cossa’s waiver situation then include Cossa in a trade to a team in the West for that top 6 forward that’s so desperately needed. And then put your hopes on Augustine becoming the #1 for the next decade.

  8. GR has one of the oldest rosters. It’s full of 30 year old AHL players. Our forward prospects look like a group of guys. Pinning our hopes on players like Carter Mazur (0 points double digit games) is more of the same thinking that got this team here to begin with…

  9. I did not see an Epiphany from Yzerman's comments because he had the balls to mentionied both Perron or Draper. If we expect change those two would be a good place to start. While Yzerman admitted the obvious that we need better players he spent most of the conference saying we need improved effort from our current players. Yes the young players such as Finnie and Kasper should improve next year. To expect the veterans such as Kane , Compher or even Larkin to improve next year is wishfull thinking. Would have liked to heard McLellan say he played Gibson too much. I think the overworked Gibson starting game after game cost late in the season every bit as much as Larkin and Raymond.

  10. The kane curse is real. Tbh the red wings are bad they got bent over by an ahl team. I rather see young kids fail then 5-6m players. At this point buy out the bottom 6 and bring up the griffins give Gibson 1 more season bring up guylander and cosa 3 goalies next year suck or pass and be 100% bout it either we will make it or come in last for good draft pick

  11. Dylan Larkin is not improving at 30 years old. What you see is what you get, it'll only decline

  12. A good Q for Yzerman: You have lost the faith of a large part of the fan base. How do you win it back?- name some goals and some time lines. What’s the most urgent need on that timeline?

  13. Cossa has inexplicable holes for a big guy, should have moved him 2 years ago. Check that, should have drafted Walstedt.

  14. Raz has to go. Shine is clearly better hand his "give a f" score is closer to 10.
GMSY touched on maybe revisit a grind/shutdown line. Yes, bring it back. DMAC/Draper/Maltby 2.0 but we'd need to bring in at least one dman to match the intensity.

  15. This is the same exact conversation as previous years and with the same pro scouts. They have picked so many wrong type of players with their scheme. I’ll give Yzerman this summer to make some change, but I am not optimistic.

  16. The draft philosophy and trades really to be looked at.
Ine current roster 3 or 4 best players are
    Seider
    Cat
    Kane
    Faulk
    Only Faulk played college hockey
Plus too many softies from University of Michigan

  17. 7:16 PLAYERS don't want to come to Detroit anymore!!! Is nobody going to acknowledge this fact? HOW TF DO WE ATTRACT BETTER PLAYERS?

  18. We need to find, 3 dogs somewhere. Guys that are willing to go all the time. Crashing and digging all over the ice. We need to have at least one line that's hard to play against. It'll catch on with the rest of the team if we can get them.

  19. If it was any other GM other than Yezerman they would have fired him by now. He was a great player but a horrible gm. Most of the Tampa team he managed was already put together by the time he got there. In the interview, you can see with any of the questions regarding his fuck ups how offensive he gets you see it in his body language his posture he acts like a high school principal. He has the coach sitting there next to him like he’s a bad kid and has to monitor what he’s gonna say and he can’t really speak his mind like he wants to, like he did in that interview. Yezerman is a weak GM

  20. Maybe the reason they didn't play Cossa the last two games of the season is they didn't want to take the risk of doing any more damage to his trade value.

  21. Yzerman is so sad as our Red Wings GM! He has been indoctrinated by Gary “Douche Bag/Socialist Of Hockey” Bettman! 😡 We need a Herb Brooks type GM, but will never happen with this new Woke type mentality soft team & owner/organization cheap limp dick Chris Illitch, who will never be anything like his great father, Mike Illitch! Todd McLellan is the only one who has any toughness in the whole organization now! Sickening! 🤢🤮

  22. Imagine wasting this much time on Rasmussen.
He's closer to being an adequate as 4C than most Wings are to their role.

  23. I would love Mason McTavish, i have for a couple years now but ANA wanted the world for him.
I think he's starting to become upset just like what happened to Zegras, and im still pissed about Yzerman NOT going for him, Marchment, and Yegor Chinakhov.
My Boston buddy mentioned that Matthew Knies would be good for DET and i couldn't agree any less. He's a young physical LW that could possibly be for our 1LW and he could be exactly what larkin and raymond need on the top line. At this point i also don't care about EP40's contract for what DET needs. EP40 and Knies would improve the team massively as it would move the guys to their correct lines.

We can keep Kane and do everything they mentioned here but also should STILL add a 1C or 2C. Get Compher, Rassy, Apples the hell out of here, move the kids in their place and copp/finnie/kasper are the 3C and/or 4C. When Copp is a bottom 6 C the team is much better.

Iv also mentioned a few times now that i believe Bertuzzi would be a great player to bring back to this team and he was very close with Larkin and the core.
Bert is pretty darn close to what the team needs and wouldn't be as expensive. He's getting older and it's not the best but he's also still a 30 goal scorer with some intensity and grit to him, something this team has to learn. Loved the trade back then, it was needed to gain assets for the future, sucks that Cat didn't demand before he was traded but things happen, it's time to bring Bert back home.

  24. Rasmussen must go and so should Compher absolute cancers. I noticed Rasmussen after Zegras gave him a concussion last year has avoided contact at all cost ever since.

  25. Offer sheet Bedard for $20 bajillion.

It's pretty much the only way to get a Good Top 2 Center for this team. There isn't a free agent in the league that will want to come to Detroit until they've at least made it to the second round.
