Raddysh is unlikely to drop off too much. Probably 10-15 goal range guy now with regular PP time, which he would have shared with Hedman this year, while still popping 22 goals. Two years younger than Rielly.
Grabbing and overpaying for aging free agents has been the model for the losing leafs for as long as i can remember! I hope their new chain of command values elite scouts and draft picks…

Hopefully they keep their top 5 pick and get a stud dman and maybe sign Raddysh and Mario Ferraro to decent contracts. Plus a healthy Tanev, OEL, Mccabe and Villeneuve as your #7. Morgan Rielly traded. It starts to look a little better but still aging.

Reddish is not a good fit not even a mediocre fit. .. he is not worth the Leafs time and money !! What the Leafs need to do is bring up players like Raifi, Villeneuve and even Danford. Same for forward depth. It is not hard to figure out some veteranship and young talent in the ranks to build a team. We do not need to make splash trades or signings for mor than 1 player… there is enough talent from the Marlies that can make the transition…. even if it means 3 to 4 rookies starting out next year.
Raddysh is the exact type of Dman the leafs need.
Raddysh has never been the go to other than this year and his last year in Erie.
Dermott was the one running the PP in Erie until the 2016-2017 season, And in Tampa it has always been Hedman until last year when he was forced into it and then this year.
It's not a breakout, it's your team having depth and you having players in front of you. In both of the years where Raddysh was the #1 he succeeded.
This could work well provided the new GM can get off of Morgan, Benoit & Carlo while hoping Tanev can return to 85-90%.
Raddysh is big, doesn't shy from contact, has a bomb of a shot, can move the puck up and proved he can run a PP with elite players and succeed and he shoots Right.
6.5×5 is fine and will age great. Will give the leafs a window to draft a few skilled D, allowing them to develop, then moving the contract with a rising cap in 3 years.
Just my opinion
Keep an eye on LD/RD Mario Ferraro and RD Darren Raddysh and RW/LW Taylor Raddysh in free agency and keep an eye on C Mason McTavish in trade rumors and trade talks
And Mario Ferraro and Darren Raddysh have big snap shots and good two-way defenseman that why leafs linked and leafs need defensemen on both side on blue Line that can help offensively and can play defensely and have gritty and heart
