Need to trade Hellebuyck.
Chevy needs to get fired from his lifetime contract…
I'm not even a Jets fan and it still pisses me off that they wasted a season like that from Mark Schiefele.
That could be the true President's Trophy jinx
They and the NY Rangers have that in common. Let's hope they don't have the drama like "All My Rangers" have.
Remember last year when the Jets had the best third line in hockey.
If Hellebuyck was/is unsure of his future in Winnipeg, maybe he shouldn't have signed for seven years there?
Jets fan here.
To be honest, this team is screwed. The organization is going backwards Mark Chipman doesn’t know how to run a professional hockey organization team. He is too loyal with Kevin Cheveldayoff.
This core of players is getting even older and I don’t believe that they have shown they have the capabilities of winning a cup. Going back-and-forth in the standings and always flaming out in the playoffs or missing the playoffs. It’s the same story different year. I’ve been a fan of this team since 2015 but the organization is poorly ran and the loyalty game that Mark Chipman is playing is gonna screw up the organization for years to come. They’re throwing away all their draft picks because they believe in this core yet this core shows time and time again that they cannot achieve to their own hype. To be honest. This team needs a sports psychologist because they’re too up and down.
So here's how I see all of this turning out.
As far as Helle goes, he put it out there to management and coaches primarily, change things and give him support in goal by putting the best possible players out there on D… right now our best D are Josh Morrissey, Dylan Samberg and Elias Salomonsson. Demelo has lost his edge, he has a year or two left on his contract and I think he needs to be on 3rd D line duty going forward because the top line duties appear to be too much for him to manage. Pionk has been riddled with injuries this year… I still like him but he's been out too much. We need good D to help clean out the area in front of Helle.
If this happens, I think Helle's sadness will get better.
In the forwards, it sounds like Jonathan Toews was doing some farewells at the arena at the last game so he might be calling it a career. He had a positive impact as a mentor on the kids like Perfetti and also the youngsters like Rosen and Lambert, from what they said.
I think we have to clear out the ageing vets like Vladdy and Nino and I want to see possibly Barron with Lowry and someone else in a shutdown line. We need that. And then an energy line of kids, give them 13-14 mins a game and let them go.
I really have felt from the end of the season that Arnie will seek work elsewhere or he'll be encouraged to do so. And that's in keeping with the past, when the team didn't make the playoffs in 2022, all the coaches except the goalie coach were not re-signed. TNSE lost money from no playoffs and someone will have to pay for that, I think it'll be Arnie being the fall guy. And if that happens, I'm okay with it because his resistance to changing up the lineup and deployment decisions cost this team wins in the previous year.
I hope it all turns out because I've signed up once again for Quarter Seasons with TNSE and I want to see a competitive team on the ice and I also want to see Helle staying and being happy again. I love this team, not going anywhere. Just disappointed in how the season ended.
Someone please buy Winnipeg an indoor beach so that players can enjoy a warm climate for more than 2 weeks a year.
They replaced Ehlers with an old Toews who is way passed his prime. That was their big time signing in the off season. That blew up in their faces as the Jets really struggled beyond the first line. Also, Hellebuyck got injured and he was never the same after that minus that Olympics run he had. When he came back, he looked like post season Hellebuyck giving up way too many goals.
jets are too old
They shouldn't have even won first round last year. Refs blew three icing calls early that would have ended the game well before the 6 second bullshit goal. They were a regular season team that never had the grit for the postseason and now it's showing in the regular season.
I thought the jets had alot of injuries this season
This team needs a major retool, get younger and faster. Last offseason was unacceptable, built a retirement home in front of our MVPs and burying our prospects in the Moose, press box, or 4th line. Lambert, Yager, Salomonsson, Rosen, should all be in the top 6, I know Barlow has been underwhelming with the Moose, but he should still be given a chance IMO.
All teams need to get younger. But how young? How much and how long can they play at a high level?
definitely a re tool… org needs to stop leaning into veterans heavily thinking that's the answer (ie playing the absolute disaster beer leaguer luke schenn every night up to the deadline instead of salomonson or literally anyone else) and needs to figure out their development. Their future could very well turn into a disaster if they aren't careful.
Funny enough both Hellebuyck and Connor are from Michigan, as a Wings fan I'd say its time they came home.
They need to figure out what intangibles they spotted in their previous core and recreate it. If they can't do that, they have to figure out the best team they can make through their prospects and free agency. Winnipeg had a great team, shouldn't be too hard to put a playoff team back together.
I'm a Chevy guy, gets great contracts, good trades when he's bargaining from a position of weakness, and we'rd not the market that will get the big ufa's or have ntc's waived. He has the hardest GM job in the league. Jets are a draft and develope team and have been really competitive for quite a while now. Coaching has to change and have to replace some of the older depth, like Nino, Nyquist etc with depth and need an upgrade on D.
Cheveldayoff should be on the hot seat; but he won't be.
15 years of steady mediocrity. That will continue as long as Cheveldayoff is at the helm
Thereis nothing that's going to change.
Chevy isn't going anywhere. It's his team. The owners are happy with the way things are going financially.
Some years are good, some are bad, but Nothing,
Nothing is going to change.
Go Jets Go, baby.
Jets are located in a very harsh climate. Daily life in winter can be extremely stressful, i lived for years in Edmonton but now in California. Life is so much easier weather wise here. 😮 11:05 Winnipeg is the coldest large city in North America. Edmonton is very cold also. But there is so much money there that there seems to be more shielding from the harsh climate. For example, you can walk around almost the entire U of Alberta campus and there are walkways between almost all the buildings so you are shielded somewhat from the cold. i simply could not believe how shockingly cold Edmonton was despite the fact that i grew up in a four season climate with a cold winter. it is amazing how much easier life is weatherwise in California or Florida. Mind you I was fine in a four sesson climate, Spokane. But Edmonton was a major shock. Winnipeg and Edmonton are lovely in the summer. i believe the climate is a daily hardship in winter in those two cities. Recall the Stankey Cup tv coverage…It was basically a non stop ad about Florida. This must affect recruiting especially for players with wives and families. The people in Edmonton were absolutely lovely and friendly ad both are lovely in summertime. It is simply a very very cold climate.
