  1. This picture people keep using of when the puck was in the net is so misleading. Sure the ref wasn't in great position in THAT FRAME, but as soon as Jarry looks behind him the ref starts skating and is locked in on the goal line. The puck doesn't cross the line until Poehling is almost all the way around the net, which by that time the ref would have had a clear view of the puck under Jarry's skate.

I don't think its unreasonable to assume he held off on calling it to get a little closer, Murphy plays it, and he blows it dead since its under Jarry. If he calls that a goal and it isn't Anaheim is pissed because Poehling realistically still had a chance to play that puck. Had it not been a goal that's on Poehling for pointing and skating off instead of playing on the wraparound and trying to poke it all the way in.

Refs come together, he says it looked over, anyone else get a look? No? Okay goal on the ice. Toronto has the same call. Game over. This whole conversation is dumb as hell and grasping at straws because the Oilers lost.

  2. I don't know if I agree that Ottawa went backwards.

No offense to the Leafs, Carolina is a much better team that regularly makes it to the conference finals.

I'd say we just didn't improve, which was kinda obvious from the way our season played out.

We once again, barely made the playoffs and had to kill ourselves in the last quarter of the season just to be there, while our opponent was able to coast in with no worries at all, same as last season.

The team needs to start playing their game at the start of the season and not wait for the last half to push for playoffs.

I also don't agree that Montreal has to win this series or their in trouble.

I think your perspective is skewed because the Leafs did all of this but then just never did anything better after that.

But that doesnt mean the Sens or Canadiens will have the same outcome.

  3. Man, Knobloch is a great coach. He has two tools. They pass to a third tool. That's all you can do. This Edmonton Oilers team is the worst TEAM to ever make the Stanley Cup finals. They don't have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th line Jesus.

  4. You know, it'd be REALLY funny if Mats Sundin decided that it was time – he packed up his family, moved to Canada and took a significant position in the organization he's known for, becoming part of the front office of the Vancouver Canucks.

  5. I think the guys are completely wrong. Especially Jesse and the "Your a liar, your a liar", garbage. If the ref was on the goal line, I would agree, if he was closer, I would agree, but he wasn't, he was at a slight angle and a distance. The skate wasn't resting on the puck. It was above it, and from that angle you could clearly see the puck. Its possible he didn't, and he probably couldn't say 100% it was across the line, but absolutely he would have been able to see the puck. Maybe he didn't and he made it up, but the level they are crucifying the ref when its not only possible, but plausible, is wrong.

  6. If Tampa Bay is showing us what the future of NHL hockey is going to look like I think I might need to find a new sport to watch. Players flopping all over the ice every time somebody breathes on them just to maybe get a power play.

  7. Bowman should be calling Drury about Jarry. Rangers are rebuilding and need a new backup since Quick retired.

  8. The issue ive seen going around with the kapanen high sticking penalty isnt that kapanen was called for it, because it was objectively a penalty. The issue that ive seen is that james looks directly at the ref after the contact to his helmet, to which he doesnt react initially, sees the ref hasnt called the infraction, and then "acts like hes been shot in the face" to draw the attention of the ref. So the narrative ive seen being pushed is for a matching minor situation for embellishment since james clearly takes a few seconds to scan around and see if anything was called before he "reacts" to the high stick. Same deal for the Jake Evans cross check on Kucherov. Kucherov does a shoulder check, sees evans is coming in with his stick leading – which again objectively is a penalty – but then puts zero effort into bracing for the contact and again, falls down as if hes being mugged by four grown men. Another situation where yes the initial infraction is clear but then the "acting" should have warranted something as well. Thats the discourse ive seen mostly.

  9. 1:41:07 as a canes fan I would say tongue in cheek Brett Pesce is the second best defensive D man, but it’s probably Toews or maybe someone like Esa Lindell.

  10. Come on guys. How can you say that the bottom Habs d-men are drowning? They would be in top 4 for our Leafs. Chief would play the wheels off Xhekaj especially against the Lightning. The Habs have been playing very well and so are the Lightning. It's the best first round series. I wish my Leafs would get smart like Montreal did.

  11. Jaccob Slavin plays hockey like an elite shutdown Corner Back. Minimal counting stats because he blankets the opposition and takes everything away.

  12. I'm a huge Habs fan, and yes, I think the refs are too involved and we are getting shafted more than Tampa. That being said, it was a clean hit. My problem is that nobody went after him. Take a penalty, who cares. You need to let them know that it's not ok to do this
