Regardless of who wins, I think my heart will want to die with all the stress these games have been giving it.
Win or lose (hopefully win) the boys have been fighting hard for this and have been playing incredible hockey. I think in my lifetime I’ve never seen a version of the team so consistent in the playoffs, and that includes the one that made it last to the finals (which still has some members here). I’m so hopeful for the future!
I could see this game go either way, as both teams have been incredible. But if its any consolation prize, while our cup window has opened, Tampa’s window might be closing after this year. Their core is getting a bit old and they’ve traded so much of their future that it would be incredibly hard to keep it up or even to fully rebuild like we did. Dark times coming up for them.
Lets send them home tonight boys!

This is it folks (Long comment here)
Keeping things both positive while also managing my expectations. I will be euphoric if we pull it off, but I’m also prepared not to be too crushed if we do fall
Positives:
-We have been better on the road and have won every odd numbered game in this series. Neither team has won twice in a row!
-Dobson *might* return tonight and it would be a game changer for us
-Dobes has been nearly as much of a wall as Vasy has been
-Nick has to have a breakout game right?
-We have been 6-1 in our last 7 Game 7s, and we’ll be playing without the nervous energy that we had at home
-We have tripled our playoff wins this year compared to last and a Game 7 is crucial experience for our core as MSL said regardless of the end result
-Even if we lose, we have pushed this series to the brink against a powerhouse. We did not once face elimination in this series until the final game, that is something to be proud of with this young group
-It was an incredible season with many milestones. Many fruitful years ahead and we are STILL Canada’s team now and forever
-The rebuild would technically be over with a series win. Less than 5 years is pretty amazing
Negatives:
-Vasy Vasy Vasy. He is the difference maker. We saw how the still Vezina-calibre goalie played with his back against the wall. Tonight will be no different on his home turf
-Hedman *might* return tonight and that could be the knockout punch combined with a strong Vasy performance
-Game 7s tend to favour the home team, regardless of how well the road team has previously performed in the series. This is a big part of why getting home advantage is so important
-Unpredictable and inconsistent reffing as we have seen throughout the whole series. One wrong call at the worst time can do the trick
-If our 1st line doesn’t produce again, our depth may not go far enough like they have before
-If we get scored on first, we will be chasing the game. This would be the worst game to chase
-If we do advance, Buffalo has the advantage of being rested and hungry
