La saison des Bruins de Boston a pris fin aux mains des Sabres de Buffalo. Maintenant, même si ce n’est pas la fin que la plupart des fans espéraient, je pense qu’il est prudent de dire que certains fans sont plus optimistes pour l’avenir que pour le début de la saison. La plus grande question que je me posais après la défaite était : que vont faire les Bruins de Boston maintenant ? What was your biggest surprise this season?
Thanks for the post and the straightforward on point comments all season. With any other goalie this team misses the playoffs or gets bounced 4 straight in playoffs. They battled hard with so-so talent (overall) and did themselves proud with effort and grit.
– Arvidson's injuries and age should dictate moving on despite his season (especially second half)
Dealing him at trade deadline might have been the right move in retrospect.

Bruins need to decide whether they are going for it in the pasta window or to continue to collect assets for the future. In my opinion they need to use some of their prospects and picks and turn it into actual nhl ready talent. Too many guys in there prime to prolong this retool.

I’m a huge Bruin fan but the Bruins likely won’t make the playoffs next year. Without some trades and signings . Get rid of Mittlestadt, Eyissemont , Peeke , Kuraly Reichel , and Arvidson if he wants 4or 5 years he can go as well ( 4.5 mill for 3 years max ) . The eastern conference is only going to be tougher next year except (Toronto ) and the Rangers . If Zacha , MacAvoy and resurgent for Arvidson , Geekie and Swayman don’t repeat this season the B’s are in huge regression in point total. Try Gausseau from BC he’s big and can skate at centre maybe starting at 4th line give Lysel and Potrias as real chance. Gausseau really helped BC when he came back from injury ask Hagens and Létourneau they excelled when he was at centre . And try Brunet from providence young decent sized D man .

Offense wins games, defense wins championships. To win the cup, you need an outstanding goalkeeper. Sway isn’t bad, but he’s not world-class. What’s more, he’s on too high a wage. Lohrei is often in over his depth. We should let him go. Most importantly, though, we need a captain again. But who should it be?
Did the team out perform our expectations. Great season. Love alot of this team right now, new core is building and we will be even better next year. I really hope Hagens can be included with some big impressions, and also hope we make a couple of really exciting additions.
advanced stats are valuable but not the whole picture
The B's need to embrace the rebuild, trade away what you can, in my mind no players are safe, get picks of young players back and start the rebuild.
I think once the Bruins made the playoffs it was easy to start dreaming about Stanley Cups and forget how awful this team was last year. We also got a lot of help from the Eastern Conference as four out of eight teams who were in the playoffs last year didn't make it back. We have to be real about the fact they could use help both up front and on the back end and it's unlikely those players will be found on the UFA market. Let's pray the Leafs slip down in the draft lottery to the sixth spot so we can be in on a player like Robert Thomas in the off season. (Being able to draft a top end defender would be huge for the B's). This is why I think they should have traded Peeke and Arvidsson at the dead line for assets because they likely still make the playoffs and would be in same position today accept they would have more young prospects/picks in the pipeline to work with. The big question is how many games do you think McAvoy gets for his baseball hack to Benson? I think it could be 10; Remember back in early nineties when Granato tomahawked Wilkinson to the head and got 15 games?
This is not a good team. Yes they did “over achieve “ but was it worth it ? They had a minuscule chance of winning against whoever they would face in the first round of these playoffs. Trading for futures earlier and tanking would have been the direction for the betterment of the team. I do like the management decisions to keep patching though since I am not a Bruins fan. Maybe this offseason they could add another player or two that is slow but can fight!😂😂😂

The defensive scheme did not work. The players never really caught on. A lot of times they looked lost and confused in their own end. The goaltending masked a lot of problems. At least they made the playoffs, which I was certain they wouldn't. E. Lindholm is a problem that needs to be solved somehow. He takes up a roster spot that could be used for Hagens or Poitras. The summer will be interesting.
