Mcavoy is a POS. To me Benson didnt do anything. Typical dirty Bruins player. POS was a -6 and now he'll start next season minus the first 6 games. That was fricking insane. He's like Charlie Manson on skates!!

Benson’s dirty play was way more dangerous than what Charlie did.
A slash to the body is maybe a game or two suspension! If he had gone Donald Brashear on us and slashed his head, we’d have a different story.

The biggest difference I see is the slash was aimed to do little to no harm, more of an act of rage. While the slew foot into the boards could have seriously injured a player.
There's no excuse for what Charlie McAvoy did luckily he had enough sense in the moment not to swing at his head.
1. Know the guy — Benson plays on the edge and is an agitator — 100% did this on purpose. 2. This is not in front of the net with two guys virtually standing still like Mcavoy on Tuch. This is is a race to a potential icing which is dangerous and the reason the NHL instituted no touch icing. Look a Tuch go down in front of the net and look at McAvoy slide into the boards — completely different plays. 3. For McAvoy, a guy that undergone a ton of injuries in the past 18 months, the emotion, while not justified is understandable . 4. McAvoy should be suspended. So should Benson.

Extremely dangerous play to slew foot someone right near the boards on an icing race. If you’ve ever played hockey, you know that.
I say definitely a slew foot as he appears to have also pushed back with his left arm. The slash is definitely suspendable. McAvoy likes to run around and to be physical until someone want to fight him. Kind of a punk move.

Benson was off balance, so it wasn't a true slewfoot. It was like you said, an "accidentally on purpose" trip that everyone does. The slash was bad, you can break bones doing that

McAvoy invades Benson's space to slow him down, restrict his movement, the fall is on him. It's plain we'll lose, I'm butthurt about it slash, I would give him 15 just for the uselessness of it all and to prevent all series to end with an injury attempt in the last five minutes.

Oh my – now you tell me the 'fix' isn't in. Darnell Nurse got an instigation , 5 minute major, for fighting Nick Hague of Vegas and subsequently got suspended for ONE game (the next game) of that series. Later on in that same game, Pieterangelo skated over to Draisaitl and took a massive axe swing down on Drai's arm – WAY WORSE than this 'love tap' – and yep, Pieterangelo got a '1 game' suspension. And people wonder why Oiler fans cry foul all the time. I'm still pissed at the OT goal in the Duck series. Was it a goal? 100% it was. BUT the officials never saw the puck over the line – NOT ONE did. They called it a goal on the ice and the replay officials 'did not have enough evidence' to call it either way so they went with the call on the ice. Why am I mad – because you know damn well that if the Oilers had been the team that scored a goal like that in OT, the Officials 100% would of waived it off, it would of gone to replay, and same reasoning from the replay officials so therefore call on the ice which was NO GOAL. That is why Oiler fans get mad.
No excuse for the lumberjack chop. McAvoy will get 6 to 8 games I predict but comparing an in the corner or front of the net slew foot with a full speed icing chase into the end boards slew foot is crazy. Benson won't get anything for his play but hockey players know there's few greasier plays you can do to someone than what he did because you never know how you are going to hit boards once your legs get taken out from under you at full speed.

Ok – fully agree that McAvoy will get some sort of suspension, but what about the fact that Pietrangelo got 1 game for his slash in 2023, that seemingly had no motive and actually connected on Draisatl's hands?

Benson had a slew foot – left arm up high and left foot behind McAvoy's left foot. McAvoy wasn't a hockey play – that was a chicken play.
Benson is also applying pressure with his left arm. Makes all the difference in the world
Back up a couple frames to the start of the interaction, you are missing that McAvoy initiates the contact by Interfering/Elbowing Benson in the head when Benson had the lead to get to the puck and deny the icing. Benson then backs off on the whistle and McAvoy whos on his heals essentially takes himself down when Benson who he is leaning on backs off. So that's not a slewfoot and McAvoy should have gotten 2 Elbowing, 5 Slashing and Game.

What's more amazing here is that with a minuta and a half to go, and a PP set up for the Bruins, McAvoy essntially ended the game, (that was re-opened by a dumb penalty on the other team) with that slash. Worst part of the slew foot was they were a face-off win and a good shot form having a chance for a miracle comeback. Instead McAvoy opted for self gratification
