Na. Truthfully, Torts probably wasn’t too far off the truth. Obviously, yes, he knew who he was, but Torts’ job is to coach the players in the room. It’s management’s job to deal with the future of players that will be in that room. There are absolutely some coaches that take a more hands on role, like I’ll bet that Brind’Amour and St. Louis absolutely do, but Torts? Like none of us really know how these guys are behind the scenes and what not, but in the 30+ years that I’ve been a Torts fan, he’s never struck me as the kind of guy that gives any iota of a fuck about anything that’s not happening on the ice right here and right now.
There’s no beef between Torts and Cutter. Never was, and they’ve both moved on.

I’m not a huge Torts guy, but the thing with this comment was it was more to shut the media up than to disparage Cutter. He was more saying “Look, I barely knew the guy, he’s not here, and he’s not gonna be here, so let’s talk about the Flyers.”
Idk, Torts can be a total jackass at times, but I honestly don’t think he gives a flying fuck about Cutter Gauthier choosing to not sign with a team he doesn’t even coach any more.
