Crazy game
Regardless of the result, I think the Avs didn't have a good game, so to come out with a win was great. I'd like to think that the Avs will actually turn it on in the next game. BTW, Steve Dangle and CO said the Wild hand the better D-group.
Guys, we watch hockey for entertainment. If that wasn't entertaining, nothing is. I hope we see 3? more games just like that.
Chris Micieli, why don't you mention how burns was -3 this game?
For our forwards Naz scored the GWG and led the team with 8 shots but he was also -3, Roy and Colton -2, but you can't blame Naz for that sh powerplay goal Mackinnon turned over. Plus/minus doesn't tell the whole story.
Stars fan checking in here, gotta say that game was AMAZING from my POV but yes the defense on both sides left MUCH to be desired but the back and forth action was super entertaining, for this series, I am temporarily rooting for yall to WHOOP the Mild and embarrass them in 4-5 games because the mild fans are legitimately unbearable, and also I miss Wedgewood in Dallas but happy that hes played like a Vezina level goaltender this season so him not being a vezina finalist is some silly politcal BS, if you guys just tighten up your defense a little and focus on laying out Quinn Hughes and Boldy you'll be perfectly fine, I think you and Carolina will meet in the finals for a very very entertaining series. Keep an eye on Marcus Foligno, he's a dirty rat that will try to injure your best players, def obv he was trying to hurt Makar in this game so hopefully your guys won't tolerate his shenanigans. Mild fans were so sure they were going to beat Avs up like they did Dallas. Surprise, surprise, Avs forecheck is relentless and they can hit back. Now the Mild need to close this game up like LA did or get clapped in 4. Decisions

I don’t think Blankenburg played in the 3rd period except for the very end. I think he played a big factor in Burns being out of position a lot. Also sneaky feeling we see Blackwood in game 2 since the big break between games 2 and 3.
Ball arena was rocking. What a great environment, I was lucky to be there. Defense/goaltending was rough all night, but that was so much fun to watch and it was a blast to be there
How to summarize this game : Makar hurt, Goaltending and Defense Optional, Makar back , sorry Minnesota there is only 1 Cale Makar and he is the best in the world, Mackinnon gets the empty net goal .
The rust was in their D coverage & game flow. Bednar will fix that in video sessions. Naz was clutch! Nuke was a beast! Necas was an automatic entry! I liked a lot in G1
While the first two periods were rough, the third was actually great for the Avs. 4-1. Makar is the difference maker.
Cale going out early threw off the dynamic of this game early and the game never recovered. Fortunately, Cale did 😂
My guess is that the next game will be a D battle…until the third period…again. Why? Avs have a deeper bench and Wild will eventually open up the ice.

If this was Dallas or Edmonton. Score would end at 10 to 1. Minnesota is an offensive juggernaut as the AVS. In game two they need to slow down their offense approach and then the score will be 9 to 2.

My take is that the Avs wanted to cause chaos and throw Minn off their usual structure by starting out on the attack. For a less disciplined team this would be super effective. Minn was back on their heels temporarily but then said bet, we’ll match you. The problem for them is they don’t have quite the same offensive weapons to do what Avs do and couldn’t keep up. One other problem for Avs was the loss of Makar for a period and Malinski for part of a period. I think the next game there will be adjustments on both sides. We will see a different game.
Not containing Hughes is gonna be a problem. Need to shut him down
Blankenberg has a great motor and tries hard but he's just too small for a physical series. If Manson isn't ready for Game 2, Middleton in for Blankenberg and Kivi in for Colton.

That building was electric last night. You could tell there was already way more energy in the building in the first couple minutes than there was in the entire round 1 series.
Pretty funny for me was that Quinn hughes is their talked about star now, and Boldy was the terrifying forward anytime he touched the puck, so it left me thinking Kaprizov who? Which is hillarious for the highest paid player in the league
Hot take – Cale hasn’t been a difference maker on the ice in quite some time compared to previous seasons. It’s amazing to see how much better the team performs when he’s on his A game like last night. If he keeps it up, the Kadri line keeps improving, and we actually capitalize on power plays, we can’t lose.
The Averages was just that… meh… average. The Wild scored at will and just need to make a few adjustments and then even the series in poor Nuggets town before going back home to the State of Hockey and continue the winning. Wild in ✋.
