Sabres in 7. As Leafs fans, how do you guys feel about one of these teams making it to the third round?
Sabres played a weaker team. Montreal played the better team in the 1st round. Sure the last game didn't look great offensively but you can't discount how well they were all around in the other six games. I think Caufield, Suzuki, Slaf, and Demidov will break out in this round. Does Buffalo have a shut down line like Tampa? I don't think so. It'll be a tough test but I think the Habs can do it.
I'm a Sabres fan and even I love Lane Hutson lmao… kid is an absolute stud. Can't wait to see how his career goes. He has the potential to be the greatest Dman to ever play… even better than Makar

The Sabres are on more of a destiny run then Montreal, return of Lindy, breaking the drought, beating Carolina in the conference final in the twentieth anniversary of 05-06

it's weird that hockey commentators don't think the Sabres play defense when they have the best top four in the league. They also think they're a rush team. Do they watch the games? Do they know about the high cycle?

I'm a Canadian first and a oilers fan second. I root for any Canadian team that has skin in the game so I'm rooting for the Habs…..but if buffalo wins I'll be cheering them on the rest of the way. Absolute classy fans
As a sens fan, I'm cheering for Montreal. They deserve where they are and ST Louis really deserves the jack Adams.
Halak vs Pittsburgh vs Washington…. We have a better team than that. Buffalo is in trouble. Sure you can out shoot us. But we have more talent that can score AND we have better goaltending. No Hasek to save you.
Habs in 6. We get a split in Buffalo, win Game 3 back on home ice, Buffalo win Game 4, we win Game 5 in Buffalo in a greasy fashion, and we close it out in Montreal in Game 6 😄
If hurricanes sweep in 4, and Buffalo-Montreal goes to 7, Carolina will be twiddling their thumbs for over a week….
Most say the playoffs are another season and what happens in the season does not repeat in the playoffs, but Tampa vs the Habs sort of did. Tampa went 2-2-0 and the Habs vs Tampa were 2-1-1 slight advantage that was reflected in the playoffs. The Sabres should have beaten the injury riddled Bruins in 4. Not only the Habs are healthy they also have NHL players in the stand, that's a lot of depth. In the season both had a 2-2-0 record. The Habs lost one game with Montembeau and the other with Fowler, Dobes won both games with a GAA of 2.00 and against Tampa in the series had a 2.03 GAA. Tampa had the best NHL goalie and better scorers than Buffalo, so I think the Habs are going to win it in 6.
Its always more fun to be the underdogs and everyone picking the sabres makes me happy. I have a feeling Montreal will surprise the league and beat Buffalo. But i am nervous anout it, i feel one team will beat the other in 5 or 6. If Dobes continues his run, i think we got this. I will say this, if we lose, i will cheer for Buffalo to win it all!
forwards and defense could go either way, Sabres 3rd pairing has really looked good recently, they stepped up against Boston and played really responsibly but Dobson on the third pairing is very strong. Montreal's first line looked really weak and with the way Krebs was playing and really the whole Sabres core, their forwards looked strong, it's really a matter of whether they can solve Dobes
One of the luckiest game 7 wins? I’d say it was lucky to get to game 7 for the lightning. Montreal largely dominated the series but their youth and inexperience allowed this to drag on. Tampa lead for less than 10 minutes all series.
Montreal blew a 2-0 lead in game 4 which would have given them a 3-1 series lead. But they figured it out and all part of the process.
Whoever wins this series I think goes to the finals. Not a believer in Carolina & Philly.
