The Kings could've won the last two games of the season against bottom feeders and played the neutered Oilers. Would they have lost anyway? Probably, but they also would've had a chance to make the conference finals for Kopi's last season. No sane person believed LA had any chance of beating COL.

Kings are one dimensional, and can’t even play that system well. Look at how the AVS played against us. Low scoring defensive hockey like us. Then first game against Wild and they score 9 goals !!!!! So exciting to watch too. Kings haven’t been able to score goals for a decade !

I feel like our offense was hindered by our lack of puck moving defensemen. Clarke was the only one capable of it with Doughty to a lesser extent. Asking slow stay at home defensemen to carry it up the ice when they aren’t fast enough to get back forces the forwards to help out instead of pushing the play up ice. We had too many breakouts deep in our zone with the forwards having to come back to help and by the time they got it in the zone, they were gassed. Get 1 or 2 mobile defenders and let’s see where our offense really is.

Eddie what i thought was interesting is you said the ducks went 7 years without making the playoffs and 8 years without winning a playoff series.
Now look at them, they loaded up high draft picks and have a young fast team, just made the playoffs and won in the first round.

As a life long Oakland/Los Angeles/Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders fan, currently suffering through 2+ decades of losing, enduring 6-8 years of it with the Kings to completely rebuild doesn't sound too daughting. lol
Would I rather suck for 8 years than get embarrassed by a rival team 4 years in a row? Yea, the answer is easy and obvious. Here's the deal, there are never any guarantees, only chances. A rebuild doesn't guarantee championships, it only raises your chances of building a championship caliber team. Conversely, whatever the Kings are doing now is only raising their chances of being mediocre furthermore, until they have no choice but to rebuild anyway.
The Kings already have their goalie pipeline figured out for the future, they also have QB and Clarke, who are good young players in key positions. They already missed out on a perfect opportunity to quick up their rebuild considerably, had they traded Kempe instead of extending him, as well as not making the Panarin trade, which would keep a young talent like Greentree in the organization, but also easily have put them in a top 5 draft position right now. But that's not something they're willing to do, the only hope is that they at least make correct trades, and get younger, target guys like Sandin and Pinto, instead of overpaying more washed veterans.

The Kings organization has no plan, no strategy, no identity, leading to bad draft picks, bad trades and bad free agent signings. This is why a rebuild is needed, to install new leadership with an actual plan and strategy to swap out our current players for players that match the new system. Sutter and Lombardi did it in 2012 and the Kings went on a 3 year roll. They would have had a 3rd Cup if there was no NHL strike.
I met luke when i was a young teenager going to my first LA Kings playoff game with my dad against the Canucks. I remember seeing him eating with him family right before the game at a restaurant across the street at LA Live. Didn’t bat an eye when a rude young kid interrupted his meal for a picture. He loves this teams and the fans. I want a new direction but i also want someone who cares for the team the was Luke does.

Those lines are just mid level players. There are no outstanding players on anyone those lines. Stop messing with the likes of Doumalim and Ceci, can they keep Laughton for his face off abilities. This team from the top down is full of serviceable NHL players and no stars.
Why is it even a question whether or not we’d be willing to suck for years in a rebuild? The only championships this team has won were a result of sucking and missing the playoffs for years. The previous 40+ years were handled exactly like what Luc is doing. And look at those results.
