  1. 2 outta the last 3 cup winning teams didn't have one captain.

One captain teams can create puck watchers.

The difference between Pasta and Mac's recent locker room interviews, Mac simply stated, their performance was "not acceptable"

    No excuses.

I can see them as co-captains

  2. Next season worries me really bad. Are they gonna trot out the same roster again. Or are they finally gonna bring up guys like poitras/locmellis/ lysell. Or any of the defenseman in providence. I feel like sweens is gonna do the same exact roster again next year.

  3. That’s how bad the Bs ownership wants to make the playoffs…they had Pasta playing on a bad groin since November. The Bs just can’t find it in themselves to stand pat for a little bit and stock up on picks. The Bs live in an entirely different league than the rest of the teams. #mushymiddle

Here’s a spot where my medical background has some worth.
Whether undergoing surgery to reconstruct the MCL or instead opting for conservative knee rehab via natural healing, the timeline for full recovery from a grade III (full thickness) MCL tear is 3-6 months.
Even though Zadorov somehow managed to play three playoff games on a torn MCL, this is still a very significant injury, and it’s going to require the entire summer (at a minimum) for rest, healing, and knee rehab, regardless of surgical intervention or not.

  5. Elias Lindholm is unfortunately in trouble with his back…no doubt. He is an excellent two-way center when healthy. Very troubling situation with his back.

  6. Great conversation and very informative. I think you nailed it when saying that Sweeney is great with trades, but not so much with UFA signings. He also gives out too many NMC's that leave him backed into a corner. I saw Friedman say that he thinks trades are going to be a majority of the action we see, so hopefully that's good news for the Bruins knowing Sweeney's skill set. In terms of injuries, I agree with you and Conor that the one that worries me the most is Elias Lindholm. I wish they could make a decision if they are going to put him on LTIR (or even possibly buy him out) before training camp. I would hate to see Sturm settle on players/lines and then find out a month into the season that Lindholm is out for the rest of the year. Then you have to take time to move people around again just as they've found chemistry or heaven forbid, you traded Poitras and then find out you could have used him. While I get the whole hockey culture of playing injured, it's truly become the Monty Python skit – "It's just a flesh wound". If you are seriously hurt like Zadorov etc. and continuing to play you are hurting your team and putting them at a disadvantage. You're going to tell me that a 100% Lohrei wouldn't have been better than a 25-50% Zadorov or McAvoy? I find the discourse regarding Poitras as a 4C lately interesting. Yes, it would get him on the ice and I did like him with Jeannot and Kastelic, but do you want one of your best playmaking centers having limited ice time and playing primarily against very physical players? It surprised me last night watching Providence vs Springfield last night that the commentators compared his play to that of Brad Marchand the way he was irritating everyone and drawing penalties for the P-Bruins. Also, I would argue he should be in the conversation to play with Pasta. Dom had stats of when they played together 5×5 last year and they were very impressive. I still remember that game in February '25 against the Rangers where he got two primary assists feeding the puck to Pasta and one of those involved him beating Adam Fox. Eager to see how the ping pong balls fall for the Bruins tomorrow night!

  7. Great season Cort. If we can somehow get that Toronto pick, that should be a guy that can step in next year with hagans. They need to sign a veteran that can actually play and has experience leading a locker room to make captain. This team doesn't have it. McAvoy is just a goober and pasta is a comedian. They don't fit the bill. The Bruins have plenty of ammo to make deals this summer, so there's no excuse not to get some guys to change the makeup and hockey skill. Theres no way that they can keep kuralyi.

  8. So obvious we need a good puck moving defenseman that also has ability to get shots through from the point. Blocked shot after blocked shot from our d-core. Some guys – Bouchard, Heiskenen, Quinn, Karllson just have the subtle ability to get a puck on net.

  9. Game 6 is a great example for you why so many think Pasta is overrated.
    He scores the lone goal.
He’s also on the ice for all 4 goals against. Makes a bad play on the 3rd goal poor back check. And a bad play on the 2nd sabres goal he’s late to cover his point.

  10. Oddball question related to acquiring off-season talent

I'm looking over UFA's and particularly RFAs.

thinking Bruins are going to pick up roster talent using some of their draft picks & assets
We can't develop the right side & 1C from the draft, Providence, nor Mariners fast enough for this season.

ELC RFA's have established records. Worth giving up a first rounders & assets

    I got questions.
When a player is an RFA,

❓ What is a qualifying offer?
Let's say Chicago offers Bedard $10 x 8 = $80 mil limited NMC, before new CBA to lock him down for as long as possible, at a discount. And then someone else has to beat their offer by 20% (or something like that)

another team offers him $12 x 6 years, So he can become a UFA at 26, getting to the big bucks sooner

In a deal where Bedard has more NMC control over his contract

It's a smaller overall contract but a larger AAV?
    What's the deal on that?

    Which is the better offer?

Does Chicago still maintain control ?

Yeah I know Bedard isn't going anywhere, using him as an example coming off his ELC, with the option of extending or signing under two different CBAs.

And he has an established record, is likely worth 13 mil even coming off an ELC

They already know what he can do, not paid on potential

So Chicago better make that the right number.

I don't know if each offer made has to be a certain percentage over a previous offer?

    I'm confused

  11. I'm not worried… I was expecting the result we got… maybe into 1st round, but waas NOT expecting more.
Poitras on 4th might be interesting. Depending on who else plays. And you need someone who can "protect" a bit. Poitras is the Speed guy, Kastelic is the glue?
I'd keep him at Wing, if he plays w Kastelic.

I could see Zadorov as a Captain.

  12. NO scoring, why?

There is not one forward drafted by Don Sweeny in the lineup since his start in 2015!

Why would Pasta even stay in light of this.

There is no guarantee the "juice"(draft picks)that Don referred to last year will even be successful

    at the NHL level.

Bruins management have been literally been relying on residual draft picks for the offense for 10 years now. It was Bergy , Krecji, Marchand(all prior GM's) now relying on Chiarelli's pick of Pasta!!!!

If Cam who I loved as a player complains about late first round picks somebody in the press should remind him that his previous core was composed of 2nd and 3rd round picks!!!!

    UGHH
