@Wild du Minnesota

Hynes n’a pas encore pris de décision concernant son alignement pour demain, y compris son gardien de but.

It would be pretty dumb to pull Wallstedt after that game

I think Gus Bus should start game 2 💯
Shake things up a bit and give Jasper some mental rest. He’s had a shit load on his plate lately. Last night was pretty rough for him. Crazy game.

I mean why would he…. They got done and decompressed.  Slept.  Then did fill this morning.  I’d say the lineup gets set around 9pm tonight, especially with a game that had so much to digest.   We HAVE to be more aggressive at the blue line, Colorado had WAY too much time to line up shots.  I get they’re fast, but this “sit back and absorb” approach is playing with absolute fire

Every goalie I’ve ever met says that’s the hardest shot to save. Right above the pad just below the glove or blocker. Maybe I should be a scout.

I said some dumb shit in the GDT and PGT but you gotta hope Hynes sticks with Wally.

I think we all agree yesterday was a fucked up game all around from both teams. Just one of those “that was crazy lol” type of games when the final buzzer hits.

Ummmmmm……NO. I love Gus, but last night was a team collapse with the defense playing poorly. Hynes should focus more on how to counter the Avs speed. Our defense was caught flat footed and looked like traffic cones at times.

I think the Wally deserves a rest. Not a break, a rest. Give him one game off starting. It doesn’t mean he won’t play (Gus could get sick or injured), it just means he doesn’t start in one game.

Wally was blown out 9-1 by the Blues in his NHL debut and it took forever for him to recover. Evason should’ve pulled him after 4, the team was playing like crap in front of him. Evason didn’t pull him and it took 2 more years in the AHL for him to get to the level of play he has this season.

Wally hasn’t started on a run like this at the NHL level- ever. I have full faith in Wally, I just think he’s human and needs a minute.

I also think that if the Wild don’t get their puck discipline and passing game together ASAP, they’re gonna lose this series. A good chunk of those mistakes were not the mistakes of a team that just handed Dallas its ass in Round 1.

I wish Spacek could’ve played a few games that last week of the season when resting guys, or really should’ve played more after he showed to be competitive at the Olympics. He feels like a better fill in for Brodin then Middsy

Who tf even reacts to an article/ »story » like this? Foremost, hynes would like to not say who’s starting, and this isn’t surprising because it’s useful for their opponents and none of us common folk have any insight or decision making power in the matter whatsoever

Remember a couple days ago when Connor mcDavid was a « game time decision »? lmao ok dude if he’s able to skate he’s playing and the talking is all just obfuscation

I don’t think there is any data driven reason to commit to only running one goalie. Theres no reason Gus can’t start and if they switched them up semi randomly then there wouldn’t be any discussion about being depressed over it in the first place.

Neither one of these goalies could rise to the surface and win the starting position. Attribute it to the flip flopping or whatever you want but these guys havnt strung up a long string of solid play all year. Goaltending is key. If Wallstedt doesnt let in 2 soft goals and makes 1 more big save then we win. 3 plays, 1 player, 2 to choose from now, and 1 whos supposed to be our starter, got the contract, represents what we banked this whole season on. .. Is he paid starting goalie pay to watch the rookie get destroyed and let in 8 goals or do we put him out. Id have went after a goalie who could take us to the cup but I dont see him on the bench or on the ice. Im sending Gus’s sorry ass out there out of principal and if he hasn’t recovered from his vaginal injury or whatever fucked up bullshit kept him from playing decent doesnt clear up then I guess I gotta put the blame on the guys in the office letting us all spend 1000s to come watch all season only to crumble because we couldnt understand the most important position in hockey and get it handled.

You don’t pull gus after 1 bad start in 7 playoff games I mean c’mon he literally was the main reason they are still playing instead of going home already.  He’s gotta be better for sure but that « defense » was atrocious. And if he’s bad again tomorrow they gotta put in gus after that . Hopefully it was a fluke performance and the wild are bad to playing good hockey going forward

  13. I’ve got some friends on the inside and Gus was told he’s starting tomorrow.

I’m kinda neutral about who gets net for game 2. On one hand, now would be the perfect time to give Gus a game and give Wally some rest, also could be a curveball to Colorado who’s probably been game planning around Wally and watching video of his tendencies.

But also, that was such an outlier kind of game that I’m not going to disregard the 6 games before that Wally looked incredible in. Wally was letting in some uncharacteristic ones for sure, but he was also making big saves despite the score. Aves were just absolutely sniping those upper corners though.

If I absolutely was forced to make a decision, I’d probably put Gus in for game 2. If we’re gonna switch goalies now would be the time to do it. If we throw Wally out again and he gets shelled, we’re coming back to Minnesota down 0-2 and we’re praying Gus is the answer. Would rather give Wally some rest and a game to watch from the bench and if Gus doesn’t play well, put Wally back in for game 3.

I don’t care if it’s Wally or Gus. They’re both good. Gus wasn’t great at the end of the season but he’s still a good goalie
