As a Panthers fan, I’m genuinely intrigued as to what the Leafs will do from here on out. Hopefully Chayka works out, and hopefully McKenna is an absolute stud.

This draft lottery win changes NOTHING unless they move on from boat anchor contracts (Matthews, Rielly). And unless they finally get YOUNG, BIG, TALENTED defenseman, which they never had since I'm a Leafs fan (almost two decades now).
Oh actually that's not true, Liljegren was great, they just wasted his development by never giving him a chance.
And I was thinking Gavin McKenna seemed unlikable before, now he will be just pure insufferable. Dude has anger management issues, and is a ticking time bomb. Now he has to deal with Toronto media. LOL, good luck seeing someone that can't control their temper last in that environment.
Am I in the wrong thinking the Leafs need defensive studs over McKenna?
I love Slaf. And I think he has what it takes to be a superstar in this league. He's not there yet. And he's perfect for Montreal's culture.
But watching Matthews, Bedard, Celebrini, McKenna, it sure would have been great to have a bonafide franchise player the one time we get to pick first. I've seen Chicago win twice after another franchise player pick, they didn't need the help.
Then again, there's something funny about the Leafs getting 2 kicks at this in 10 years while still wallowing in mediocrity. If this pick maintains the curse, have at it 😊
As a Wings fan, I hate you. Share some of that draft lottery luck. Last Wings 1st overall was 1986, last 2nd overall was never happened, last 3rd overall was 1990, last 4th overall (after falling 3 picks in draft) was 2020.
But congrats to the Leafs, hopefully they don't screw up. Or whomever they pick turns out to be a dud.

As a Flyers fan, whose team has only had 1 #1 pick in their history, which was in 1975, dont have alot of sympathy that Leafs 'only' had only 2 overall #1's in last 10 years when we had 1 on almost 60 years.
This is great. Chayka is going to get to relive his Arizona tenure by having a fantastic draft handed to him in his first year to solidify his GM position for years to come. In those subsequent years he made some terrible decisions that ended with sending Arizona to Utah. Welcome back the Quebec Nordiques in 5-7 years!
