Lucky Number 7 (that last lotto ball) really said it’s our time. If Stenberg lands in SJ, it’s going to be AMAZING!! The future is teal 🦈
Yeah stenny lets gooo!!!!!
Love your videos as always and am 100% with you. Stenberg or bust!
In support of your arguments for Stenberg and generally just being in agreement:
1) There are only two players in the top tier of this draft and it is not close. It consists of McKenna and Stenberg. That is it. All other players are a true tier below or more.
2) Stenberg can play as soon as next season as he has no contract with his SHL team rejecting it for a shot to play in the NHL next season. A goal he recently openly stated.
3) McKenna is the scouts darling at number one and although he had a bad start at Penn this season he finished strong making him the clear number one in most scouts eyes (a little North American bias).
4) Reid and other defenders in this draft most likely will not be on an NHL team next season. The best in the class that are North American players are just not ready or committed to leagues for next season (such as the NCAA) while the non-North American defensemen need a season to adjust to North American ice, the new culture, playing styles, pace, etc.
Taking a forward would be a mistake.
If Grier feels a forward is the best player at #2, then we should trade down to #3, #4, or #4.
We don't need a prospect who can play now.
Our best years are going to be around 2030 through 2040.
We need a player who can fill a team void, who will be contributing by 2030.
We can sign veterans in the mean time.
Pohlkamp, Cagnoni and Sahlin-Wallenius are all close to the NHL.
Hopefully they all make it.
But Pohlkamp has below NHL average skating and Cagnoni is a smaller player, while Leo hasn't even played in North America yet.
Clearly defense is a weakness… Dickinson first pair and Mukhamdullin maybe 2nd/maybe 3rd pair… not much else in the system that we know can play at the NHL level.
So draft a defender to fill the void.
Reid is safer and Verhoeff has a higher ceiling.
If you don't mind another left-handed defenseman, Carols is likely a better two-way than either of them.
Look at our likely prospect pool and young forwards:
(L) Chernyshov (C) Celebrini (R) Smith
(L) Eklund (C) Misa (R) Musty
(L) Graf (C) McKinney (R) Lund
(L/C) Bystedt (C) Ostapchuk (R) Cardwell/Muldowney
If we draft Stenberg we get an Eklund like winger, sure valuable, who maybe joins our team in 2-3 seasons.
We either play him on the 3rd line or bump someone from our second line down to the third.
Or we have to trade one of top six forwards for a top pair defense.
Which is what we could just draft to begin with.
Our defense looks like:
1. (L) Dickinson + (R) No one fills this spot
2. (L) Cagnoni/Mukh + (R) Pohlkamp
3. (L) Cagnoni/Mukh + (R) Sahlin Wallenius
Why wouldn't we take a top pair defender, with three great options in the draft?
Many scouts put Carols, Reid, or Verhoeff as the best defender.
I've seen Smits and Rudolph as some scout's top defender, but most take one of the aforementioned three.
It is worth noting Reid and Verhoeff are right-handed while Carols is left-handed.
Chicago has ten young players or prospects who would likely be in the Sharks current top four defensemen.
So it makes sense for them to take a forward.
We have five top-line forwards already, why would we want another when we only have one first pair defenseman.
I mean look at Edmonton and Toronto who have stacked the offense, but don't care about the defensive end of the game.
Do you want to have an exciting offense and early playoff exit for our Celebrini years?
Or do you prefer to build a team like Chicago in the Toews/Kane/Keith era or Pittsburgh in the Crosby/Malkin/Letang era where the team has high end offense and a solid defense?

The 19th is hard, because you don't know what is going to be there.
After the first ten picks or so, there doesn't seem to be a lot of consensus.
So your #30 might be someone else's #12, or vice versa.
im ok with either Mckenna or stenberg. Not mad with either one lol good problem to have
Totally agree! Stenberg led Sweden at Juniors. Eklund hasn't shown any killer instincts. Trade Eklund and Oilers' pick for a NHL Dman
What we need to do is trade The second pick to Vancouver for their 3rd pick and LHD Zeev Buium. With the third pick the Sharks pick RHD Chase Reid who goes to college next fall and will not need more than one season there. We still get RHD Darren Raddysh to be the Power Play.
i’m just here to glaze collin graf LFG
19 is not locked up. We still need the Ducks to beat the Knights. If vegas wins, we'll have 20 instead.
You are 100 percent correct. Pick BPA at the top of the daft ALWAYS Never for need.
Thank you utah for losing 😂
1000% agree!
We should trade for Moritz Sieder from Detroit Redwings I'm sure I didn't spell that right but he is our best option if we can get him and then grab bischl from Dallas
I want Axel eloffoson as a 2nd d man so bad
You’ve convinced me!
What if Ryan Lin was still available at 19? The talk around him is that he might be one of the smartest players in the draft as he thinks the game at a very high level.
You gotta get Stenberg, let's not overthink this. I agree that you trade for D with current assets, but please do not trade Colin Graf.
what about trading down a couple picks, getting a defenseman who could play now, and still drafting a top 3 defenseman.
If we go Stenberg with number two, then I would like to see us try and move up from 19 to around 10 if Braxton Rudolph is available
Trade both picks for Mcdavid.
Your right let’s get the one your saying 2nd overall and get a big name defender on free agency this season
My dream off season would be 1) trade Edmonton's 1st and Bystead to Vancouver for Hronek 2) trade Musty and Colorados second to NJ for Seamus Casey. 3) draft Stenberg 2nd. 4) Re-sign Desharnais. Our line up would be
Chernyshov/Celebrini/Smith
Eklund/Misa/Stenburg
Graf/Wennberg/Sherwood
Goodrow/Ostapchuk/Gaudette
Orlov/Hronek
Dickenson/Casey
Cagnoni/Desharnais
Askarov
Nedeljkovic
Toffoli/Mukhamadullin/Delandrea backing up
If the Sharks could get #4, #27, and Braden Schneider for pick #2 (Stenberg) then Chase Reid my be there at 4. That would be a tough call because Stenberg is so good. But Schneider can play now, Reid is a top pair defenseman in a year from now, plus you would have two first round picks to either move up or trade.
How about you get trading Eklund out of your mind??
Anybody who says trade Eklund literally misunderstands why the Sharks are ahead of schedule… it’s the vibes! And Eky is a huge part of the culture and vibes.
Yes! Great take.
I wonder maybe we could trade Eklund for a guy like Jamie Drysdale or Pavel Mintyukov or even maybe Owen power I feel if we take stenberg eklund is the odd man out
You delusional if you think Chase Reid won't play for 2+ years
