When is too many top 6 forwards too many? Ideally, send 2 for 4+Rinzel to chi, otherwise draft Reid and call it a day
I’d be ecstatic if we draft Chase Reid RD at #2.
These elite defencemen, especially RD are so hard to acquire through trade and Free Agency, you have to draft these type of players. I strongly believe Chase Reid is the next Zach Werenski. He has elite edges, best skating ability in draft, lethal shot, great playmaking, good hockey IQ defensively. Go watch a few scouting videos on Chase Reid people, you’ll be regretting not taking him.
Reid or Verhoeff, whoever Grier likes more.
As long as he's contributing decently by 2029-30, all is good.
I'm team Stenberg, but I'm not going to lose sleep if we draft Reid. All of this is a blessing
I like the idea of picking Stenberg and trading our other 1st pick along with maybe Ekland for a good defenseman.
Missing the playoffs by two games means "seeing improvement" mean making the playoffs. You can't miss the playoffs by 4 games and then say you saw an improvement…
You’re right JD, I’ve read fans that don’t understand anything about prospects and never watched any tape saying Stenberg is generational and he’s clearly not when we watch his tape. He’s an amazing player, he’s no Celebrini. That’s why I think Grier should pick a dman, not much of a difference offensively between Stenberg and Reid and the other dmen in this draft class. the scouts and prospects specialists agree Reid is the pick. Grier’s scouts probably agree with Reid being the guy. I’ll be happy with any dman, Reid, Smits, Carels any D. I don’t care about any forwards
Stenberg easily becomes our best winger and the perfect complement to Celebrini's game (along side Smith). Misa and Stenberg could also help Mack carry the offense when he might miss time.

I’m not a prospect guy and what I think doesn’t matter at the end of the day but I trust Mike Grier and the scouting department he has set up. I’ll be happy with whoever we end up picking
Ask Connor Bedard about Chicago drafting a defenseman Artyom Levshunov over Demidov. To this day, he is playing with below average forwards. Celebrini is carrying this team. Look at the point gap between him and Smith I think Stenberg will be the perfect compliment.
21:30 I really like Smits… was hoping we could grab him at 9 and now at 2 I’m not sure if it’s a reach. I just have a feeling he’ll be one of those guys in 3-4 years that people ask “how did he last that long” if he’s not picked top 5

After drafting Ravensbergen over Brzustewicz/Fiddler or other RHD last year, I have a hard time seeing Grier prioritize Reid/Carels/Verhoeff over McKenna/Sternberg, unless he genuinely believes they are a better player
As a fan advising patience the last couple of years, I think now is the time to start building a team to win, and a (hopefully) weak pacific division is basically playoff experience and roster-pruning at a discount. Not saying we need to chase every big fish, but I'd like to use our massive asset pool to stay competitive for any big name Dman that becomes available. Figure out which top 6 prospect is weakest in the playoffs and use them in the aforementioned trade, preferably before we sign them to big money. We can avoid anchor contracts that are proven rebuild-killers this way.
