Rangers are so dogshit at young player development, falling back may save Drury’s job for a few years. They can’t afford another Kakko, Laf, Miller, etc.
Johnny and Arthur always desperate for the Devils to trade Nico. It’s a non-starter. They can’t afford get Matthews for a Nemo deal. But he may not go anywhere now that he has forward help.
Devils Objectives:
-Trade Dougie for cap relief after his 7/1 bonus is paid out. He'll be missed, but it's necessary.
-Trade Nemec in a package for forward help if he's asking for too much. Bring up Casey as RD3 or sign a budget defender.
-New deals for Nico and Grits.
-Goaltending is probably stuck with the Markstrom extension for next year and hoping for the best, unfortunately.
As for big game hunting, as much as I want Matthews, Tkatchuk, Quinn, etc., it's probably not realistic for names that big.
