NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOO! Other than the kids projected to be strong players (Biuum, Willander, Lekermakki, Cootes etc), Hronek is as close to untouchable as there is. The Canucks NEED Hronek's veteran leadership and solid play on the blue line to mentor the youngsters on the D. Two weeks ago people were discussing Hronek as the next Canuck's Captain and now someone thinks he's only good for trade bait to move up ONE spot in the draft? That's not just stupid, it's ridiculous.

There is absolutely no way that SJ woulda accept that trade one for one.
San Jose would be crazy to trade the second pick for Hronek and a mid-prospect… but if they are willing, the Canucks should absolutely do it and then draft Reid and Malhotra… a mobile RHD and a two-way center who are arguably the best players available in the 2-7th range would be great in the rebuild

San Jose would never do that. That would be a stupidest trade in NHL history that would even make the cam Neely trade out of Vancouver looked OK back in the day.

Canucks fans, this is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.
The theory is built on the idea the Sharks are in a hurry. They aren't. Grier has been very clear that he's still not ready to make aggressive win-now moves.
You have to think of it this way: who would the Sharks rather have in 3 years, Hronek or Reid/Stenberg? Especially considering age, I think that makes it pretty clear. The price would be significantly higher.
If I were San Jose, Im not even taking Chase Reid, Im taking Stenberg. They always go after the BPA so its insane to think trading Hronek will land you Stenberg. Also you have to assume Hronek would be willing to waive his nmc to go to the Sharks. Not happening imo

It wouldn't be Hronek for 2nd overall, it would be Hronek + 3rd overall for Ivar Stenberg (2 & 3 pick swap), essentially.

Hronek for #19 sounds more reasonable or Hronek +#3 for #2 sounds better, wouldn’t even be surprised they ask for an extra second rd pick.
