  1. I'd love to see the Isles try to package #13 and Holmstrom for Adam Jiricek. If the #13 isn't required to make that deal, then that's even better.

  2. Isles need a forward that can score. Novotny might be there, but if by the grace of the hockey gods Belchetz falls to 13, you take him and run and count your blessings. I would even try and trade up for Belchetz. Plenty of good LHD prospects in the system to package.

  3. Its time we start talking about Alexander Romanov (NYI) in exchange for William Eklund (SJS).

This trade makes too much sense. Here's why:

The Islanders current LD situation includes:

    Schaefer (LD)
    Pelech / Romanov (LD)
George (Deboer sees as NHL player) (LD)

Aitcheson (1/2 years out – LD) – The islanders will be very strong at LD for years to come.

The sharks currently have 4 UFA defensemen coming off the books going into next year and especially now with the opportunity to draft Ivar Stenberg at 2, Eklund is that much more expendable for their defensive need.

For the Islanders you get your young, highly skilled, dynamic top six forward you've been seeking for years (on a great contract currently), with tremendous upside given a larger role that he would inevitably take on with the Islanders (Bonus appeal with his brother Viktor on the team already). It's time that we start to take chances on young promising talents (The Cutter Gauthier trade for example). While Romanov is a solid young, physical and promising defensemen, we have plenty of young talent in the pipeline at LD as well as a steady Adam Pelech. The impending need for young top 6 talent over takes what you get with Romanov now given our situation. Win win for both teams in my opinion.

I think this works perfectly as a one for one.
