Funny you praise Tampa for getting depth scoring and deride Montreal for doing the exact same thing. Seems Suzuki getting 6 points in 7 games and Caufield getting only 4 in 7 isn’t good enough for you. With biases like this you could work for Sportsnet.
They played like crap most of these games and still won. If they play how they did in the regular season, we could see something special

I am a life-long Montreal Canadiens fan and I will sum up the game in this way; Remember the Olympic Gold Medal game? Canada was clearly the better team, especially in the second half of the game, but they didn't win. Tampa was clearly the better team, but they didn't win. This is hockey. If Montreal has designs on making this a playoff run, they better find a way to generate more shots on goal, regardless of the situation.

Habs were criticized in the regular season for the dubious depth. I remember people worrying that if the top line got shut down, it would result in a quick round 1 exit.
But the depth absolutely stepped the fuck up. Paradoxically, I'm glad it happened. Now I know if our top guys are in a slump, the rest can cover and see us through. That's what you need to make a deep run. And the sheer stubborn refusal to lay down and die when the game play sucked and should have led to a loss is also the psychology the playoffs need. Over and over it's been said the guys aren't going to get the clean looks or the highlight reel shots. It's gonna come down to greasy garbage goals and ugly play.
The Habs leaned into that and got it done. So proud of them, and a tip of the hat to Tampa for being an excellent opponent.
