Should the Jets trade their 8th ovr pick?
How do we feel about the young goalies in the system? Il always massive Hellebuyck guy. I think hes the best in the world and know we cant expect to ship him off and not miss a beat. At the same time i do not like comrie enough to want to see him become our starter. I like Milic on the Moose alot but I dont know about the other goalies. If we start a rebuild are we gonna have to bring in a vet free agent? Or do we try to see what the young guys can do? (I was also clammoring for a rebuild 2 years ago. I believe its about time we bring on a youth movement in winnipeg. )
The problem isn’t the die hards that want the jets to rebuild that won’t show up. But the casual fans will not show up for a rebuild and then a relocation is just inevitable will 5 years of half the fans not showing up
I think it’s time to rebuild I’m sorry to say Winnipeg. Your core players are getting older . Trade them now to contenders while they want to win . Gets some quality players for them .
If we trade away the 8th pick, we will end up in the same boat Chicago is in currently. Chicago rode their core right into the ground, much like Winnipeg seems to want to do. And because of that, they had zero stars and nothing in the minors either. Drafting Connor Bedard, a potentially ‘generational talent’ hasn’t even saved them because he has nothing to work with and he can’t do it all himself. This is more likely to result in Bedard requesting a trade or signing somewhere else once is ELC is up than Chicago attracting a bunch of players to come play with him. Think Jack Eichel being drafted by Buffalo. That’s where the Jets are headed. But they don’t even have the benefit of being an Original Six team coming off back-to-back Cup wins. If you’re starting from too far back, especially in this market, it’s going to be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, for the Jets to ever build themselves back up.
