  1. No matter how we feel about the Kings season and their future outlook, I think we can all agree that their new, refreshed 90s jerseys are fire

  2. the kings easily have one of the bleakest outlooks in the entire nhl. very little to be excited about considering the state of the team and how it's been run pretty much ever since the cups. bunch of 6'2"+ fossils who cannot skate or move the puck to save their lives. size beats speed my ass.

  3. The Kings are going to keep pretending they have a shot and remain mediocre for years more to come, and that's fine by me.

  4. Kings fan here. I don't think Ken Holland is going to build a championship level team. I think he's gonna give Raddysh 7x14M or something in the offseason to try and stay competitive

  5. 1. Trade doughty and a couple picks so you don’t have to retain. They won’t do that because they aren’t the golden knights. 2. Sign the best center available. 3. Move byfield to wing because they won’t trade him which they should have years ago.
    4. Re sign Scott Laughton.
    5. Trade Ceci and picks for a puck moving dman.
    7. Hire Craig Berube.

  6. As a die hard Kings fan, it's been very upsetting to see the Kings where they are at. We get glimpses of how talented they can be (i.e: Byfield goal of the year candidates, Kuzmenko being unreal, etc) only for them to fumble when they need to get it together. I think there needs to a be a management overhaul. Coaching, GM (still undecided if Holland is the guy), and even the President. We have the power to do so, but we have been stifled by complacency. If the Kings want a cup, we need a system that makes them hungry to get it, and I have not seen that at all

  7. They won't have to worry about it next year. No way the Sharks don't pass them and nobody above them is falling back.

  8. LA shouldn’t have had any expectations this year. They’re old, and slow as hell with prospects that haven’t turned out for the most part. They needed to rebuild, but they went in on Panarin. I just don’t get their thought process.

  9. The trend seems less all out rebuilds and more mushy middle teams retooling. The Kings look to be an example of this phenomenon.

Their new GM stinks. They could have easily been a 100 point team again. This season that would have meant winning the Pacific in the regular season and, given how weak the bracket is, probably going to a conference finals. He took the job from Blake because of all those first round losses and boxed himself into over reacting in how he reloaded the roster. He made far too many questionable moves to give the team a jolt. His only redeeming move was getting Panarin for a song. They may have won the Pacific anyway had they had Panarin all season, he gives them the extra scoring they need and they are still a strong defense first team. With Kopitar gone, they still probably take a step back next season.

  10. I don't think things will go better for LA unless they go for a proper rebuild but with the contracts they have and they went all in for Artemi Panarin, I expect more pain.

  11. This team feels even more lost than the Rangers, to be honest; at least they've had somewhat recent success to look towards as an example for the present. I feel so bad for Panarin.

  12. Back in the old daze, er days, the Habs would trade popular aging players for great returns. These days, the way to build is through the draft while trading players that don't fit the philosophy or who disagree with it. Loved Kopitar, but he should have been moved a couple seasons ago to make room for the new. Oh, and what the heck is Doughty still doing there? Smacks of the Penguins hanging on to waaaaaaaaaay in the past success. Move on!

  13. Carter George actually is that guy that is considered a top tier prospect… but it's true we don't have any offensive prospects that can change a system.

  14. At least Kopi didn't lose to Edmonton, but this was a season that needs to bring changes after. Ken Holland has to make the right moves, but I'm on the side of rebuild/retool (hoping rebuild)

  15. Kings fan here. At this point I wouldn't mind if we cleaned house from top to bottom in the front office. We need a new mindset, the team is obviously falling behind. We have talent, we don't use it properly.

  16. It’s a reset situation. The coaches have been ad hoc since Sutter left. The goalies are tryout rentals. The development of players has been to trade them and watch them flourish on other teams, now the core is aged and the heart retired. Kempe is solid but, doesn’t seem to lead, Byfield is flashy but, streaky. Moore is solid, but unproductive as of late. The others are rentals and UFA. Kings need to step back and regroup

  17. they took too long to cahnge coaches and couldnt generate any offence. their rebuild just kind of sputtered

  18. Well, in fairness, they had no business making the playoffs to begin with. What did they think would happen when they faced the Avs in round 1.

  19. LA Kings drafted Dean Youngblood at the end of the Youngblood remake. Too bad he's not in the actual draft. Denis Sutton went to the Canadiens.

  20. Getting taken out by the Oilers 4 years straight was embarrassing, the Oilers are pretenders. Getting knocked out in a sweep by the Avs isn't embarrassing, the Avs are legit contenders, just playing against a team that stacked is a valuable learning experience, they learned nothing from the Edmonton losses.

  21. Defense used to be the whole identity of this team, so this defensive slump paired with Kopi’s retirement, the addition of Panarin, a (potential) coaching change, and a newer GM seems like the perfect time for this organization to shift the focus towards the offense and take off the reins that have held our offensive creativity back. We could at least be scoring goals if our defense if going to be atrocious anyway!

  22. It’s going to be interesting to see if DJ Smith is back as coach next season, and I think that they would be wise to hold on to Moore !

  23. LA has to go all in next year I think they have a team now that could win a round but if they take a gamble on some free agents and if they hit on them LA could make a cup run. If next year doesn’t pan out start a rebuild they haven’t done a full rebuild in a long time.

  24. As an avid hater of the Kings and city of LA I love it but it’s not as fun because I wish it were the Oilers who knocked them out.

  25. First thing L.A. needs to do is get rid of Ken Holland & get a quality GM to rebuild the team. The Kings will go nowhere with with people like Ken Holland who are gifted with GM jobs & never really built any team from scratch. He's been gifted with mostly built teams. Ken was gifted Jim Devellano's team & earn an undeserved reputation for being a winner in Detroit. Then he preceded bring down the Red Wings organization with bad decision after bad decision & continued his destructive ways in Edmonton & L.A.

  26. Shannon, they need to rebuild. With the Ducks & Sharks getting better, this is a good time for the Kings to step back, get young, and rebuild.
