How about letting that POS MacFarland go to Nashville instead of firing the HC. The verdict is in, the Rantenen trade is a fucking bust! Bednar, as with all points in between the team and ownership, have blame too… don't kill the coach. The pound of flesh is on Martin Nečas and Chris MacFarland. Trade one, get rid of the sepsis in the GM's position.
The players play the game but the coach has significant influence on his players. It's an obvious statement but the reason that I personally want to see the Avs move on from him has nothing to do with his X's and O's knowledge. It is because he can't motivate his key players to get out of their own way in key moments. I'm not sure why he can't compel the guys to not be dummies on the power play but he clearly can't. That's a failure to coach and a new voice is needed.
It be a mistake to get rid of the head coach, I get rid of McFarlane first. Sometimes in the series you do run into a Roblox it’s not the first team the one the president trophy was supposed to go all the way and didn’t make it everybody likes to jump to conclusions We live in this quick fix society. If something don’t work right away get rid of it bring something else in doesn’t work that way. That’s why there’s no real dynasties like they used to be back in the day just A Hockey guys’s opinion.
I have never seen a team so close to the Stanley Cup finals look so disinterested. The second home loss truly broke this team’s spirit.
I don't blame Bednar for last year. This year is different. I think the system he has installed and the players that execute are a problem against certain teams. So that is on him because he hasn't changed the system which failed 9 out of 10 years right?
First game of the serie, when I saw that open net goal at the end, where Vegas reached the puck first, I was already mad as hell. Talk about a lazy play from the Avs.
They should let Bednar finish his current contract and see how next season goes. I’m sorry, but losing in a conference finals after winning the Presidents Trophy and going 8 out of 9 in the first two rounds is not a good reason to fire a coach unless there are known issues with the coach and players or management. The team lost because they couldn’t execute when they had their chances while Vegas was hitting on almost all of theirs. I know nobody wants to blame injuries, because “everyone is playing hurt in the playoffs”. But I really think that they played a huge role in how the team was actually playing in that series. Give it time, and I would bet a lot of players were playing with pretty serious injuries. Not saying it’s an excuse. Just the reality of the luck of the draw, that they couldn’t overcome.
the Avs are one of the only NHL teams I see that carry a “zero fucks” vibe and mentality. it fucking baffles me how disinterested they look when it matters.
No one is held accountable for sucking. This is across both the Nuggets and Avs. Bednar continues to fail to motivate his team, fails to prepare them, fails to develop a system that can pivot and exploit an opponent's weaknesses, fails to make the PP better. His team is low energy, it makes mental mistakes, is lost in dream land from what was said after they were swept, no one is accountable. Bednar needs to go, a new voice must come in. Someone needs to actually wake this team up. Holding on to Bednar simply because he will go coach somewhere else isn't reason to keep him. He isn't getting it done. The team is a perfect reflection of his failure. Perhaps a new coach fails too, but Bednar is certainly not it. The whole slogan for this playoffs was no excuses. What do we have? Excuses. Bednar has to go. He won't be, and that should cause people to start to walk the F away. Denver fans are easy to con.
Get over the rantanen trade. Its been over more than a season and he was a bum 50% of the time.
AJ spittin hard facts the entire pod. Gotta love it
And replace him with who? And change the style and you have to start trading all your players. Because a lot of these guys might not fit well in the system of a new coach. It's not like there are a lot of options available out there. The first thing they have to fix is the power play. period. We know how bad it was and 1-12 v.s Vegas isn't going to cut it, in any WCF. So Dave Hakstol has to go! Period. First thing. They have to bring someone in to coach, who is a power play guru. But defense wins championships and Vegas is very good there. Obviously Makar/Toews is set. The Avs really need to find a couple of those monster defensive tough guys to pair with Malinski and Manson.
The Avs have to change tactics. They have to play more offense below the goal line and they have to change that man defense than is just too complicated to avoid those consistent catastrophic mistakes. Cycle more and play less at the blue line and the opponent can’t pack the box and just dare you to shoot from way out. This has to happen and whoever coaches the team has to change tactics. Can Bednar do it? If he can’t they need someone else.
The "choking dogs"!, I suggest have a look at Capitals (and that team struggle chasing the cup) and figure out ur next steps
