I don’t know if Girard fits on this team as constructed I don’t think he’s a good partner for Brunicke and that’s who I would give every opportunity to be the second pair defensemen I don’t think its throwing him to the wolves I think it’s aggressively rewarding his hard work. And even on a 3rd pair I don’t love letang and Girard. I grade both of your answers to my question as A+, my answer would be euchre with my dad vs Crosby and Letang the only game I think I could comfortably beat Sid at.
My hope is that they trade Girard with 50% retention (as a way to maximize any value and to help get to the cap floor), re-sign Shea or Kulak to pair with Letang, and maybe trade for someone like Ghost from Carolina to pair with Brunicke. Or you can just have Dallas pay you to take on Lyubushkin to pair with Girard and sign either Shea or Kulak for Letang and let Brunicke get a half to a full year at WBS to season a bit and maybe bring him up for injuries or half way through for a run

From Kyle's year end press conference, to looking at our team, to what he said about defensively going forward, etc there are so many more options he has that may surprise us, change up something, I for one, didn't even think of……this may be an offseason to remember to he made a couple nice moves. I can't wait to see where it ends up. Like Patrick said, we do have a couple players that are clearly worth more than what we picked them up for so if, as he said, Braz didn't show too well he could be flipped for assest(s) or package, who knows?!?
Last, is that a Hendrix shirt Hunter? Personally, I've been a Clapton fan since I was very young, in my early teens. I lost my wife almost 8 years ago now and in 2018, the spring, I had purchased Clapton tickets MSG for early Oct, 16th row dead center floor, stayed right in the heart of Times Square, and was waiting to purchase Yankee tickets. Shirley passed June 12th, and the summer went so fast. I became guardian of our then 7 year old daughter, we don't use step in our home, never have even when Shirley was alive. Anyways, I had also purchased Lion King tickets, so I took my daughter to all of it! Until today, NY was her favorite vacation without Mom, the lights, the energy, Yankee Stadium for their Wildcard game vs A's, Clapton even though she could sing 4 or 5 songs of his which drew lots of attention at the concert, it was amazing. I often forget we have Girard but anytime i think of him he is spinning 😂. Hextall regime was a straight up nightmare!!
I am definitely not giving up on Sam Girard. He did show some flashes of potential but I am with both of you, I want to see him paired with a more steady stay at home defenseman.
Also, do either of you think there is a chance Kyle Dubas could look to trade up in the draft if he and Wes Clark identify someone they really want and feel that person will not be there by the time they pick?
