The Red Wings have 3 good players, several average players and the rest are on helicopter watch for Grand Rapids. It's Yzerman who is to blame for the lack of organization success. That means coaches, trainers, scouts and other bff's from the 90's. But the collapses in 3 straight years in March and April are a Dylan Larkin leadership and skill problem.
NHL needs to get rid of the no trade clause. We will not get the proper value from a Larkin trade because he won’t go to the teams that would pay us properly.

So not only is Yzerman NOT adding the players to take the Wings to the next level, he is now responsible for subtraction of his hometown captain.
Yzerman DOES NOT have to trade Larkin!! He is locked up until he's 35 years old. Larkin could help his case by giving Yzerman free reign to explore trades to ANY team in order to get the best return possible, and if he doesn't, he can sit and wait until a worthy deal comes in from a team he's willing to go to. Can't be giving him up for nothing just because he wants out ASAP, that's insane. There is no need to accommodate Larkin's wishes or do him any favors. He hasn't done anything to earn that accommodation.
So, Larkin gone, Kane will too, Debrincat is most likely done, Gibson's going back to his hometown Penguins, do you think the floater Raymond is going to fill in? Dominic Shine might be the 2c now. Kasper? Danielson? The rest of the roster is filled with a bunch guys floating around wearing the sweater like McLellan said. Copp, Comphet, Ras, and a bunch of Griffins. The whole roster will have to be redone. I do not trust Yzerman or the Illitch's to do so. Stamkos left the same way with T.B. with Yzerman in charge.
Yzerman, Gretzky were all world players who are horrorible behind the bench and in the front office.

We can get a comparable player AND picks if you package Larkin with other assets (goalie prospect? And a slightly used Compher and Rasmussen), or make a separate trade using a player like Edvinsson.

Personally speaking, I'd be up for moving Yzerman along and keeping Larkin. Its easier to replace a GM than a 1C these days.
This is a gift. Finally. This, as 40 year+ Red Wings supporter, is exactly what we need. Maybe 6-8 years ago it was painfully clear that Dylan will never be a 1st line C on an SC winning team. His time is running out now, and deserves a better chance in the playoffs. Thanks Dylan and Good Luck. We still have a long way to be a cup contende.

Yzerman wouldn’t budge on Larkins contract because Yzerman knew what he was looking at. Larkin is overrated in this town. He’s good, he’s not a #1C, he’s not a captain.
The return for Larkin needs to be significant, not only just a 1C put other players plus the picks. This can be franchise altering.

I think the rebuild didn’t work. They rushed it and have not been bad enough for a top pick and not good enough for the playoffs. They can’t build a contender in that awful middle of the road situation. I say trade Larkin and debrincat and start the rebuild over

I don’t think think this is new. I really believe that Larkin has been thinking about this for the last couple of seasons. When you are constantly butting heads with upper management it makes it hard to put your all out there. I think that is where things went wrong. How do you play hard and put your health and body on the line for a team that you really don’t want to be a part of anymore?
Honestly though, I would rather see them replace Steve Yzerman before Dylan Larkin gets traded. They need to bring new blood into upper management. People who aren’t afraid to make the necessary changes and bring new life to the Red Wings team. I have watched several other teams make changes to upper management and coaches with very positive results.
Also as much as I love Moritz Seider I would rather see Lukas Raymond or Alex DeBrincat as the new captain if the unthinkable happens and they let Larkin go.

If Yzerman isn’t able to get a great return for Larkin, I think his time is up. I know he’s been focusing on the future of this team, but I think it’s near objective that he’s completely failed the last 2-3 years. I’m not absolving Larkin of any blame, but I feel like there’s a strong argument that this situation could’ve been avoided if Yzerman prioritized fixing his relationship with the teams CAPTAIN and 1C
Let's be honest; this shit pot started a slow simmer at the 2023 deadline when Stevie traded Bert away.
Larkin was not happy with that trade and that his buddy got shipped off, and their relationship continued to sour from then onward.
There are some disgusting comments in other videos shaming Dylan Larkin for wanting a trade when Yzerman allegedly endured so much more frustration when he was DET captain.
Problem is that such an argument is easily disprovable.
Within 4 years of Yzerman joining DET, the team made it to the Conference Finals TWO YEARS IN A ROW! And during his 20+ yrs in DET, they made the playoffs a great majority of the seasons.
Yzerman did not experience ANYWHERE NEAR the level of failure that Larkin has had to endure.
